Summer Reading Program
2014
Important Dates and Times:
July 7 at 6 PM: Kick-Off with The Magic of Science!
One hour interactive performance for children ages 5-12 about the science used by magicians to
perform their tricks. Be ready for the audience to
participate! This program is brought to you by a Kids, Books and the Arts
grant.*
Tuesday, July 8 at 10:30 AM: First “Fizz Boom Read” storytime for kids ages 3
to 5. Pick up an early literacy activity sheet to complete during the summer!
Tuesday, July 8 at 3 PM: First “Fizz Boom Read” storytime for kids ages 5 to
12. Pick up a reading log to keep a list of what you read over the summer!
Thursday, July 17 at 3 PM: Simple Machines. Develop superhuman strength
through simple machines!
Tuesday, July 29 at 10:30 AM: Bats! Friends in the Night Sky. The Center for
Wildlife from Cape Neddick, Maine presents a program integrating ecology
and natural history about bats, the only flying mammal that uses sonar technology and eats 1000 mosquitoes per hour! Learn more at this interactive
presentation.
Wednesday, August 6 at 6 PM: Pizza and Prizes Wrap-Up Party! Attend our
finale for a chance to win the Grand Prize: a pass for 4 to Water Country!

Center
Students of all ages will find guidance and research tools
to help prepare for tests, explore career options and find
tuition assistance. Use this in the library and from home
using your Newmarket Library card.
Ancestry.com:
Look for a link on our website providing access to a genealogy database. Find census records, vital records, immigration
records, military and much more genealogy information from
around the U.S., Canada and Europe.
This database may only be accessed at the library.

Books & Coffee Adult Discussion
Group: Third Friday of every month
from 10:30-noon. This month it is on
June 20. We are reading Snow Flower
and the Secret Fan by Lisa See
The Friends of the Library’s Annual Spring Book Sale is Saturday, May 31 from 9 AM to 4 PM.
Please note: there will be no
monthly Monday night Book
Sale in the month of June.
