Explore the history of Gloucester County
using a variety of artifacts from the museum and the library of the Gloucester
County Historical Society. Starting with
dinosaur fossils from the cretaceous era
and ending with the latest in technology
being used in the 1940's, these pieces
help to tell the story of Gloucester County.
The presentation discusses the first inhabitants of a much larger Gloucester
County, examines the Betsy Ross marriage certificate and explains how and
why Gloucester County was an integral
part in our nation's fight for independence.
Other areas of interest include the connection between the expression "Don't
give up the ship," and our museum in
Woodbury, the importance of sand and
firewood to the economy of our county,
and the role that G.G. Green played while
becoming the county's first multimillionaire.
Registration is requested.
