Centinela Valley Union High School District provides
students with previously unimagined college and career
opportunities by turning high school education into a
personally relevant, engaging experience for all students
through Linked Learning, a partnership with the California
Department of Education, a variety of institutions of higher
learning, and industry. This approach to education is
designed to create an engaged, disciplined, and
productive future workforce for California, ready to succeed
in college, career, and life.

The program's four guiding principles:
1. Rigorous academics that prepare students for success in
California's community colleges and universities.
2. Career-based learning in the classroom that delivers
concrete knowledge and skills through a cluster of three or
more courses, emphasizing the practical application of
academic learning and preparing students for high-skill,
high-wage employment.

3. Work-based learning in real-world workplaces via job
shadowing, apprenticeships, internships, and professional
skill-building opportunities.
4. Personalized support services that include counseling
and supplemental instruction in critical needs areas.
CVUHSD schools are comprehensive high schools, offering
the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program, a
variety of Advanced Placement (AP) courses, and California
Partnership Academies (CPA), in addition to a variety of
programs in the visual and performing arts, Career
Technical Education, and athletics.

Academy of Media Arts
AMA provides students a strong foundation of
knowledge in film making, performance and
digital managerial arts, technical theatre, and
commercial music.
Biomedical Careers Academy
BCA equips students with the
knowledge and skills necessary
to pursue a health care or science
career or further education in the
biomedical sciences.
Marine Science Academy
MSA prepares students for the
rigors of a four-year university and/
or physical geography program,
with a special emphasis on marine
related issues, technology and career
opportunities.
American Sign Language Academy
ASLA will prepare students to work with the Deaf
community and pursue an exciting career.
Availibility of sign language is limited, as a result,
interpreters, Deaf advocates, and teachers of
Deaf students are in high demand. Students
graduate the academy with: video portfolio
showcasing signing/interpreting skills, resume,
mentors and internship experience.

International Baccalaureate Program
Hawthorne High School was accepted as an
International Baccalaureate World School in April
2013. We are the only IB World School in the
South Bay that offers the Diploma Program. The
DP is a two-year curriculum available to highly
motivated 11th and 12th grade students who
seek academic rigor in order to fully prepare
themselves for university studies.
School of Manufacturing & Engineering
HHSME provides a strong foundation in
mathematics and science & brings students to
mastery in the areas of 3-D computer design,
CNC machining, & robotics.
School of Visual & Performing Arts
VAPA nurtures the artistic talents of
students with a rigorous artistic and career
technical education through the Music,
Visual Arts, Drama/Technical Theater, or
Dance pathways.
School of Criminal Justice
The School of Criminal Justice will prepare
students for a university or entry level
correctional officers, morticians, & criminal
justice field including: Law enforcement, Judicial
system, Counseling & Scene investigation.

Advanced Academics Academy
AAA is a high quality program offering high
achieving students the AP classes to qualify
them to earn the prestigious AP International
Diploma, preparing them to be highly qualified
for the university of their choice.
Culinary Careers Academy
CCA engages students with an interest in
culinary and fitness in real world classroom
applications. Students in this academy will have
access to a brand new state-of-the-art kitchen
facility, learning and applying the concepts of
health and hospitality.
Environmental Careers Academy
ECA prepares students for “green”
careers and to function as agents of positive
change through discourse, personal
example, and community involvement.
Multimedia Careers Academy
MCA is a community of critical thinkers,
problem-solvers, and technological artists who
will choose between Digital Art, Digital
Photography and Digital Film as their career
pathway.
