The President’s Paddock
Sherri Symons, President
ECRMC #339 / MCA #73330
Ok. This really is my last Paddock. We have a new corral full of officer’s chomping at the bit to sink
their teeth in to what makes us tick. Congratulations to our new President – Maria Medina-Blair. Her
Vice is Marvin Christianson. Our Secretary remains Bonita Mahala, and FINALLY – a new Treasurer!
Kemp Norman. Your Board of Directors are: Ray Grater, Jane Grater, Frank Goldstein, John Symons,
Judy Christianson, Dave Bennett, and Ken Michelson. David Corkum has stepped up as our new
Mustang Club of America Regional Director, and Myron Tracy, Ken and John remain as your Internet
and Mania staff. Congratulations to all of the new officers. A grateful, heartfelt thanks to our past
officer’s, especially past Treasurer Brian O’Neil, and past MCA Regional Director, Russ Chamberlain.
These two have run the gauntlet for many years, and have kept us solvent, informed, active and most
importantly – out of trouble. A million thanks, guys. We appreciate everything you’ve done, and will
continue to do to keep this the best club around!
There’s lots to do now that the weather has turned nice – for now. A new monthly gig is happening
at Hooter’s in Crestview. Their first was good, and the Mustangs far out-shined all other makes and
Chevy’s – combined. It was evident, and mentioned several times over the P.A. by the DJ. We gathered
up for an abbreviated ride down Old River Road into Baker and stopped off at the Gator Café for Ice
cream floats, cake, and coffee. Mundane and vanilla for some folks, but we’re starting to really like the
casual comfort of the goodies and the camaraderie. Hooter’s is shooting for an informal show & shine
the 1st of each month. Free iced tea and food discounts. 4th Annual Windcreek Casino Car Show, Hub
City Ford 1st Cinco de Mayo Car Show, and many others are on tap the next couple of months. The most
intriguing comes from President Ron Raven at the Gulf Coast Mustang corral in Pensacola. We have been
invited to attend the Wounded Warriors High Five Tour Stop in Pensacola on July 2nd at World Ford from
4-8 PM. Special guest is THE 2010 Shelby “Super Snake”. More details in the Mania. Alabama Charlie put
together a last minute breakfast run last Saturday. Breakfast at 8 at Mama Clemenza’s at Uptown
Station, then a cruise along the beach from Navarre to Pensacola Beach for lunch and back. More lead
time Charlie. Sounds like a good drive.
As I said last month, it’s been a good ride and mostly, a fun time. I appreciate each and every one of
you for helping, working, praying, supporting, and just plain being there. I remain, and always will be
grateful and…your Past President.
And for the last time … really…
See you around the stables!
Sherry

NEW NEWS:
Burning Up the Beaches, May 4 – 6, 2012. "Burning up the Beaches" was designed in conjunction with
the Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce as a fundraiser for Horizons of Okaloosa County, our local
ARC agency. Founded originally in the 1950’s by parents of mentally and physically handicapped children,
these parents developed programs providing education, training and support for their children and soon
became the Association of Retarded Citizens of Okaloosa County. Either cruise through the Ft. Walton
Beach area, or participate in the judged car show, or both. There's more than $5000 in cash and prizes to be
awarded. Registration fee is from $50-70, depending on involvement, and includes an event T-shirt, a
chance to win $5000, two passes to the Saturday Beach Bash, and more. Visit the website for all the details.

CJ Pony Parts – Rally Dixie 2012. June 19, 2012. Kicks off in Noblesville, Indiana and ends up at the
Ramada Plaza Beach Resort in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Each day also features eight secret checkpoints
at historical or scenic locations to guide the voyage. We’re positive this will be an AWESOME time for every
participant. The CJ Pony Parts – Rally Dixie 2012 charity will be the Accelerated Cure Project, which works to
accelerate the cure for Multiple Sclerosis by better funding research into the causes and mechanisms of the
disease. ECRMC member David Corkum is the POC.
Wounded Warriors High Five Tour Stop. July 2nd at World Ford from 4-8 PM. Received this from Ron
Raven, President of the Gulf Coast regional Mustang Club in Pensacola: We have been invited to attend the
Wounded Warriors High Five Tour Stop, July 2nd at World Ford in Pensacola from 4-8 PM. The tour this
year, as with years past, is in a Shelby Mustang, this time being a 2012 "SUPER SNAKE". Nothing is required
of us but to be there with our cars and show our support for this great charity. The 2011 Shelby Mustang
tour car sold Saturday at the Barrett-Jackson auction in Palm Beach for a total of $950.000.00. (Two buyers)
See the sale on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sdlA3nnj1Co
"Emerald Coast Regional Mustang Club" & "Mobile Bay Mustang Club", plus the "Baldwin County Gear
Jammers" are invited , with the goal of showing overwhelming support for the cause. SPREAD THE WORD.
thanks,
Ron Raven

Doolittle Raiders. Here’s a gem that may be a once in a life time opportunity. Towards the end of this
year, the Doolittle Raiders are set to host the last and final reunion of their surviving members. Nowhere is
the legend of the Doolittle Raiders more prevalent, or poignant, than here, at Eglin. The Northwest Florida
State College is to be the host of this final, grand honor, and we have a member of the Board of Directors
on the planning committee. To be a part of or only just to witness such a great event in history will be an
honor. As we get more information, we’ll pass it on. There may even be a role to be played by the ECRMC.
Who knows?
UPCOMING SHOWS:
Carrabelle Speed Festival, Carrabelle, FL on April 21st, 2012. Held at the Carrabelle-Thompson
Airport . It will take place on an open runway giving competitors a full half mile of open throttle
acceleration! What makes this event truly special is that participants will be allowed to compete against
each other head to head in a safe environment, without being limited to the standard 1/8 or 1/4 mile
distance.. Not only will this event provide a surreal experience of driving down an active runway at
adrenaline pumping speeds. There will also be a live DJ spinning tracks all day long as well as food vendors
to feed you when you’re ready for a break or a quick snack. Those interested will depart from the
Niceville Wal-Mart at 4 am Saturday morning. Stay in touch with Ken Michelson.

authentic Mustang and Shelby apparel. Jackets, Pit Crew shirts, Hoodies, and T-Shirts. Letter attached.
Mustang Junction (www.mustangjunction.com / www.distelracing.com) Not to be confused with
our own Mustang Village, Mustang Junction and Distel Racing offers 5% discount to club members on parts
ordered through their website. Mustang Junction leaning towards restoration and typical mechanical parts,
Distel Racing more towards the street and track racing end of the business. See their letter later in this
issue.
Mustang Village / Pensacola, FL ([email protected]) No discount here, but Bob & Rochelle McNeal
will see to it that if you have a Mustang need, they’ll find a way for you to un-need. For anyone who hasn’t
yet been there, you’re missing out. Out of the way, clean, and well-kept, you’ll find ponies all lined up
waiting to be picked. NOT your typical junkyard with overgrown weeds, snakes and unsafe stacked junkers.
Definitely worth the drive, and a good end of Pensacola to look in for Harbor Freight, eats, etc. Not far from
the intersection of 9-mile road-Highway 29-Highway 90.
Places to Go, Things to Do:
