The Chrisanne Collection is sparked by my whirlwind sojourn through the
wild world of artistic expression…as an illustrator with my first book, Cinnamon
Christmas; my lushly detailed cards, and product designs in glass platters and seasonal
ornaments, amongst other soon-to be-unveiled products, like my annual Chrisanne
Advent calendar, and wallpaper designs available for license.
As a child in sunny Cali, I spent every Sunday knee-deep in tidal pools at the
Ocean shore; and as a girl, travelled widely with my globe-trotting parents with eyes
wide open to the joy of fresh places, foreign accents, and tasty experiences… Through
my expressive mastery of watercolor wash and calligraphic line, I now capture
street-scenes, cityscapes, quirky personalities, architectural renderings, & organic
observations, each illustrating a quirky life crammed with zesty little details.
Bliss-filled, I capture the places, people and spirit of our beauty-filled planet, armed
with a backpack watercolor kit and precision Rapidograph pen, melding childlike glee
with the eye of an irrepressible sophisticate.
As a product designer, I’ve developed gifts for the luxury retail client, and continue
to translate my watercolors and acrylics into gifts for specialty retail boutiques, like
George Watts in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in their 142nd year, with their wide-range
of Chrisanne City Bibelots (see www.georgewatts.com); and for special events like
the 2010 World Equestrian Games in Lexington, Kentucky Derby for client L.V.
Harkness. Other gift designs include a Des Moines Platter and Polish-made Ornament
for Joseph’s Jewelers of Des Moines, now in their 141st year; as well as a Calatrava
museum-inspired hand-painted ornament design created in 2011 for the Milwaukee Art
Museum, (see mam.org).

I’ve been a veritable font of creative
outpourings since I held family “art contests” as
a little girl…
I’m able to quickly capture in line the essence
of an object, flavor of a place or personality. My
sparkling color sensibility brings illumination
to all my designs, and my heartfelt passion for
people is a magnetic trait.
I’m a highly expert ‘detail’ artist and
calligrapher, this year lavishly illustrating
several American cities (Los Angeles,
New York, and San Fran) for commercial
use on functional wares in luxury airport
concessionaires.
A childlike spirit infuses my subjects, yet my
pen shows off an irrepressible sophistication.
I look forward to working with new clients
towards our mutual business success, whether it
be for license, or to support your creative dream
project.
My illustration style is influenced by the
pen meanderings of the famed New Yorker
cover artist, Saul Steinberg, the brilliant wit
of cartoonist Roz Chast, and finally a college
buddy and Newbery Medal winning illustrator,
Lynne Rae Perkins. (Snow Music)
Launching my Chrisanne Card collection,
along with my first children’s book, “Cinnamon
Christmas”, and collectible Advent calendar,
I welcome an agent relationship with my
illustrations, as I am presently unsigned, and
see a world of possibilities for my distinctive
style. As a trained calligrapher, I’m adept at
laying down freehand all manner of script with
ease, as an accompaniment to my card designs,
and find the worlds of paper, letter-writing
and journaling luxurious, delicious and, yes,
spiritual.
As illustrations first, my images lend
themselves to the printed page, with an implied
and lyrical narrative. Every image I draw tells
a story populated with quirky personalities,
fabulous fashion diva moments, energetic street
vibes, but just as often meditative moments
caught timelessly on paper. Classically trained
as a printmaker in college, my etchings and
lithographs led to an annual Christmas card,
which was the first step towards building my
signature look.
I bring old-school expertise in fine detail, but
have equal expertise in both the hand-drawn
and the digital.
Working as a Buyer in a luxury specialty store
was hands-on training towards my understanding
of the marketplace; both listening to customer
requests and daily observations of what was
briskly selling, or not. Lucky for me as a fledgling
designer, I was given the latitude to develop
products specific to these client-friend requests,
each time creating a personal branded line of
Chrisanne exclusive and still best-selling gifts. (see

After 20 years in retail, I’m now launching
Chrisanne Cards, inspired by my childhood
fascination with the lavish description of Rebecca’s
desk in Daphne du Maurier’s famous book,
‘Rebecca’. Du Maurier describes a woman during
an era of dressing for dinner, fancy costume
parties, stationery both formal and informal,
calling cards and embossed ephemera.
Although inspired by the past, and schooled
as an art-historian, I’m still a lady of the 21st
century, with both an affordable Chinese-made
ornament and an Old World Polish orb awaiting
the marriage of your design vision with my own
artistic flavor.
Spinning out best-selling gift designs is now a
forte. After working on design teams for years, I’m
skilled at listening to my clients, to deliver a witty
final product that will ring the register.
