Attention Parable Lovers!
From the Desk of Fr. Chris
Do you ever sit back and think about how much power you
wield? All of us have power over others. We don’t have to be big or
strong. We don’t need money or a position of status or authority.
We all use words, and words can be so powerful. I always think
about my brother when Jesus talks about power and authority. He’s
three years younger, and in junior high and high school we used to
joke that he had 6% body fat - and I had the other 94%. By the time
he was 12, we were never going to wrestle again. He was a HULK!
But I could bend him to my will. I could play him like a guitar. I knew
every button to push to get whatever reaction I desired, good or bad.
Words are so powerful! They can cause pain or resentment. They
can sow the seeds of suspicion. They can be so demoralizing and
inflict such hurt. But words can also be the cause of great joy! They
can lift the spirit. They can be nurturing and encouraging. They can
be the source of healing and comfort. How shall we use this great
power we have been given?
Fr. Chris
We
Next session is October 24. We will discuss the parable of the
Good Samaritan along with the previous Parables of the lost coin,
sheep, and son.
Make up a story (parable) like Jesus did that tells a Truth similar
to the parables we are covering. Or, you can cut one out of the
paper, or describe a story of TV show that tells the Truth about finding what was lost, or a story about a Good Samaritan. Be willing to
share. Please EVERYONE read Amy Jill Levine’s book up to 106.
Be ready for the Quiz! Adios, Fr. Richard
Men & Women Becoming CatholicA
A number of persons have begun the process of entering the
Catholic Church, here at Corpus Christi, through the Rite of Christian
Initiation of Adults aiming toward full initiation into the community at
the Easter Vigil in the spring. There is still a very limited amount of
time for others to enter this process.
If you are, or if you know an adult who has an interest in finding
out more about becoming initiated into the Catholic community, now
is the time to take action. A form to establish contact is available in
the parish office or on the parish website cccctucson.org on the
“Becoming Catholic” page.
If you are interested in being a part of the team that helps make
this process truly welcoming and enriching, contact Dc. Mark
[email protected].
Homebound Eucharist
welcome all who are visiting our Corpus Christi Faith
Community for the first time or are frequent visitors. We are honored by your presence. If we can be of service to you, please do not

World Meeting of Families Prayer
God and Father of us all,
In Jesus, your Son and our Savior,
You have made us
Your sons and daughters
In the family of the Church.
May your grace and love
Help our families
In every part of the world
Be united to one another
In fidelity to the Gospel.
May the example of the Holy Family,
With the aid of your Holy Spirit,
Guide all families, especially those most troubled,
To be homes of communion and prayer
And to always seek your truth and live in your love.
Through Christ our Lord, Amen.
Jesus, Mary and Joseph, pray for us!
