LOUDON
QUARTERBACK CLUB
Vonore Blue Devils

Loudon Redskins
September 24, 2011
Week 6 of the 2011 Sequoyah Conference football season finds your Loudon
Quarterback Club hosting the Vonore Blue Devils!
Before the football games, starting at 9:00am, the Sub-regional Cheerleading
Competition was hosted at the Riceville Elementary School gym. Your Loudon teams
were very, very competitive, here‟s how we placed:
Crickets – 1st place
Hoppers – 1st place
Mustangs – 1st place
Indians – 1st place
I‟m positive that all four cheer teams have never earned a first place ranking in the
Sub-regional before! Way to go cheer girls!!!
These games today start our run to the play-offs. The first five games of the season
were intra-divisional games (DI vs. DII); the last five are divisional games that set our
play-off seeding. As a reminder, the Sequoyah Conference is now broken up into
Division I and Division II as follows:
Division I
Sweetwater
Riceville
Madisonville
Greenback
Roger‟s Creek Warriors
Meigs County Tigers
Division II
Loudon
Vonore
Polk County
Lenoir City
Central
Athens Hawks
What‟s better than playing at home? A Sweep! That‟s just what we did…our fifth of
the season!

Loudon Quarterback Club opens Divisional
play with four wins against Vonore!
CRICKETS
Vonore 6, Crickets 14
The Loudon Captains were #3 Semy Turner, #52 Zach “Z-Man” Arthur, and #62
Devan “Hittin‟ Man” Nichols. Vonore won the coin toss and wanted the football.
Down 0-6 at the half, the Crickets turned up the defense and dialed in the offense to
score 14 points in the second half. #3 Semy Turner bolted in from 27 yards out to tie the
game. Then, #13 Josh Gonzalez punched in a three yarder and with the Turner
conversion, the youngest Loudon team ahead for good. As time expired your Crickets
were knocking on the door again, down on the Vonore five yard line.
Scoring Summary:
3rd Q: #3 Semy Turner, 27 yd TD [51.0]
4th Q: #13 Josh Gonzalez, 3 yd TD [5:34]
#3 Semy Turner, 2-pt conv

#7 Cody Glass is attracting a lot of attention from the Vonore defense.
The Cricket defenders really got after the Blue Devil ball carriers today. Top

HOPPERS
Vonore 6, Hoppers 38
The Loudon Hoppers sent out #6 Keaton Harig, #7 Gage Henson, #50 Emerson
Tripp, and #56 Konar Baker as Captains. The Blue Devils won the coin toss, and wanted
the ball.
Big plays were the name of the game for the Hoppers, more specifically long TD runs
coupled with a long TD pass reception! Touchdown runs of 46, 65, 73, along with a
measly 14 yarder spelled doom for the visiting Vonore Hoppers. Caught napping, #25
Drew Jackson made the Devil-D pay hauling in a 60 yard pitch and catch from #5
Donavon Blankenship.
On the day Jackson, rushed five times for 150 yards from scrimmage coupled with
two scores, plus the 60 yard touchdown bomb! Not a bad day at the office.
Scoring Summary:
1st Q: #25 Drew Jackson, 14 yd TD
#16 Noah Burnette, 2-pt conv
2nd Q: #24 Kyle Smallen, 46 yd TD

Cornett, and #99 Jason Blevins who added four stops each; while #95 Brayden Kiser, #7
Gage Henson, #6 Keaton Harig, and #11 Camden Tripp posted three knock-downs
apiece.
Your Hoppers rushed 14 times for 278 yards for four touchdowns and three
conversions. Passing also added a touchdown and a two pointer, on two completions for
63 yards. Total offense was 341 yards in only 16 offensive plays – not too shabby.
The Loudon Hoppers (6-0) roll to the tune of 38-6 over the visiting Vonore Blue
Devils.

INDIANS
Vonore 0, Indians 30
Out for the coin toss were Captains #7 Mikey “The Michelin Man” Chastain, #39
Tray Moats, #64 Richie “The Bear” Trout, and #76 Jesse Kerr. The Redskin Indians won
the coin toss and wanted to go on offense first!
The Devils rolled into town with their best Junior team in years, sporting a 4-1 record.
I thought they would have something for us… turns out they didn‟t!
The big target tight end, #39 Tray Moats is always a vertical threat. Biting on a play
fake, Moats torched the Vonore secondary to the tune of 80 yards on the first play from
scrimmage, on a halfback pass from #13 Jesse Smallen – See ya bye!
It was good to have #30 Colten Brown back from the injured reserve, the straight
ahead power back lumbered for 105 yards on only five carries including two touchdowns.
Adding fifty yards including a 35 yard score, #5 Noah “Boucher” Lowe is the fastest
player on the team (maybe in the Conference) and can go the distance on any play.
Posting three two point conversions (two on the ground and one thru the air) was #42
Cody Townson.
All-Conference tackle #64 Richie “The Bear” Trout was already motoring on a sore
ankle, when he strained his knee mid-way through the second period. Not seriously hurt,
Trout will be ready to go against Athens.
Scoring Summary:
1st Q: #39 Tray Moats, 80 yd TD reception
from #13 Jesse Smallen
#42 Cody Townson, 2-pt conv
2nd Q: #30 Colten Brown, 15 yd TD

#5 Noah ”Boucher” Lowe, 35 yd TD
3rd Q: #30 Colten Brown, 37 yd TD
#42 Cody Townson, 2-pt conv reception
from #19 Jacob “Admiral” Crabtree
In accordance to the new (for 2011) Conference revisions to the “Mercy Rule”, by
agreement of both Head Coaches the score was frozen at the end of the third quarter in
essence awarding Loudon the victory at 30-0. However, both teams played the fourth
period with additional scoring shown below:
4th Q: #26 Dylan “Pickle” Russell, 32yd TD
#9 Will Jenkins, 2-pt conv
The top defenders were #50 Josh “The Bull” Silvey with 11 tackles (Vonore could not
block Silvey all day); #42 Cody Townson added seven stops; #7 Mikey “The Michelin
Man” Chastain, #76 Jesse Kerr, and #30 Colten Brown posted five tackles each; while
#26 Dylan “Pickle” Russell, #32 Dylan “Cucumber” Russell, and #9 Will Jenkins
contributed four knockdowns each.
The ground assault resulted in 202 rushing yards on 15 attempts for three touchdowns
and two 2-point conversions. The passing game contributed 87 yards on three receptions
with one touchdown and one 2-point conversion! Total offense was 289 yards on a total
of 18 offensive plays.
The Jr. Reds (6-0) continue their dominance in league play with a big victory to the
tune of 30-0!
