Week 9 of the 2011 Sequoyah Conference football season finds your Loudon
Quarterback Club hosting the Lenoir City Panthers at Dukes Field “Chig” Ratledge
Stadium. The Panthers rolled across the bridge with an undefeated Cricket team and a
pretty good 7-1 Cutter squad. The beautiful day gave promise to some competitive
football; it‟s the youth football version of the Battle of the Bridge! Here kitty, kitty…
The opening ceremony was held between the Cricket and Hopper games. After the
invocation, LC graduate Miss Desiree‟ Dezzutti blew everyone away with her acappella
version of the “Star Spangled Banner” our National Anthem.

CRICKETS
Lenoir City 26, Crickets 0
The Loudon Captains were #7 Cody Glass, #13 Josh Gonzalez, #14 Chase Chastain,
and #62 Devan “Hittin‟ Man” Nichols. The Redskin Crickets won the coin toss and
wanted to go on offense first.
The day started with a crucial divisional contest between the visiting LC Crickets
(8-0) and your home standing Loudon Crickets (6-2).
The LC team was as advertised – fast, methodical, and the only undefeated Cricket
team in the league… we had our hands full.
With the score only 0-14 at the break, a good second half would get us back in the
thick of things. A scoreless third period gave way to two Panther scores in the fourth
quarter.
Top defenders were #5 Logan “The Magic Man” Oody with seven stops; while #62
Devan “Hittin‟ Man” Nichols, #13 Josh Gonzalez, and #75 Corey Walker added six
tackles each; adding five knock downs was #92 Hayden Jenkins; and #14 Chase Chastain
contributed four slobber knockers.
Pacing the offense was #3 Semy Turner with 37 yards on 10 attempts.
Your Crickets (6-3) rushed 20 times for 53 yards but were shut out at home by the
stout Panther defense by the final score of 0-26.
In the “Super Cricket” game (League wide developmental game that does not count in
the standings) today, the Panthers prevailed by the final score of 0-8.

HOPPERS
Lenoir City 14, Hoppers 28
The Loudon Hoppers sent out #4 Trey Willis, #5 Donavon Blankenship, #6 Keaton
Harig, and #28 Sam Melton as Captains. The Panthers won the coin toss, and wanted the
ball.
LC took the ball first, and fumbled on their first play from scrimmage. That loose pig
skin was scooped-up by #7 Gage Henson on the 34 yard line!
Making it look easy, the Hoppers needed only four plays to march down the short
field with #16 Noah “The Speedster” Burnette cruising in un-touched from the five on the
first of his three touchdowns!
Loudon took over on downs on their own 45 yard line and eight plays later #25 Drew
“Jet” Jackson bullied in from the one. The conversion reception was hauled in by
Henson (from Blankenship).
Working his magic, Burnette ripped off two long scoring strikes in the third quarter of
65 and 47 yards respectively.
Scoring Summary:

MUSTANGS
Lenoir City 0, Mustangs 14
The Loudon Captains were #7 Mason Small, #25 Noah Arnold, #55 River Figard,
and #94 Donavan Sexton. The Panthers won the coin toss, and deferred until the second
half.
This was the battle of the Titians… the 7-1 LC Cutters vs the undefeated Loudon
Mighty Mustangs!
It was slow going at first as both teams were feeling each other out. However, #23
Jeremy Wiggins blew the game wide open for the Redskins with an 81 yard gold rush on
the last play of the first quarter. The conversion failed, but that lone score would be
challenged by Lenoir City late in the second period. A great defensive stand by the
„Stang-D sealed the goal line and held the Panthers out of the endzone on four straight
rushing attempts as time expired in the first half!
The defense did their job today, by shutting out the third ranked Panther offense.
To preserve the victory, Wiggins would add a 35 yarder in the fourth stanza as
insurance.
Scoring Summary:
1st Q: #23 Jeremy Wiggins, 81 yd TD [0:10]
4th Q: #23 Jeremy Wiggins, 35 yd TD [1:16]
#30 “Mad” Max Melton, 2-pt conv

carries for 136 yds and two touchdowns, along with nine tackles and a sack for -7 yards.
Also turning in big defensive plays was #98 Luke Hawkins and #18 Josh Russell
logging seven tackles each; and making some noise was #55 River Figard who posted six
stops.
Rushing accounted for 193 yards on 25 carries with two touchdowns and one
conversion.
The Mighty Mustangs (9-0) are victorious by the final score of 14-0!

Out for the coin toss were Captains #9 Will Jenkins, #18 Michael Jacobs, #26 Dylan
“Pickle” Russell, and #90 “Big” Ben Johnson. The Panthers won the coin toss and

It didn‟t take too long for the Redskin Indians to assault the scoreboard, and when the
salvos started it was fast and furious!
Breaking in from 24 yards out was #5 Noah ”Boucher” Lowe. With the conversion by
#13 Jesse Smallen, Loudon was up eight to zip.
On the next series, the Panthers were sacked in the endzone for a safety by #33 Kyler
