The Georgia Chamber is traveling the state to engage local
Chambers as officials seek input into a new initiative, Georgia
2030.
This is an ambitious plan to expand Georgia’s role in global
commerce, cultivate a world-class workforce, bolster economic
mobility, improve long-term job creation, and support diverse,
thriving communities.
Georgia Chamber President/CEO Chris Clark visited the
Carroll County Chamber, one of only 22 counties included in the
tour of town hall meetings, conducting a live poll to gather data
to help shape the Georgia 2030 plan. Carroll County will receive
the results of the local poll in late summer, and the plan for the
state will be announced in January 2017 at the Georgia Chamber’s annual Eggs and Issues breakfast.

Chamber officials and Ambassadors helped celebrate the grand opening of Across
Healthcare located in Carrollton. The company was formed by Jason Colquitt and
Johnathan Samples to deliver innovative solutions to the healthcare provider market. The principals at Across Healthcare have led the research and development of
electronic health records, patient portals, revenue cycle management, and clinical
research platforms.

For the fourth time in five years, Tanner Health System has placed among the nation’s top 15 health systems, according to the research firm Truven Health
Analytics. No other health system in Georgia placed
among Truven’s “15 Top Health Systems” this year or
last year.
The Atlanta Business Chronicle published its “Who’s
Who in Education” for 2016 and three local educators
were included. Steve Daniel, president of West Georgia Technical College; Dr. Kyle Marrero, president of
University of West Georgia; and Dr. Faye McIntyre,
dean of the Richards College of Business at UWG,
were part of the top 100 leaders in the education field
in Georgia.
The University of West Georgia has a $518 million
regional economic impact, according to an annual
study released by the University System of Georgia.
UWG’s regional impact saw a significant 13.8 percent
increase from 2014 to 2015. The increase includes
UWG’s support of 5,161 full-time and part-time jobs;
spending by the institution for salaries and fringe
benefits; operating supplies and expenses; and other
budgeted expenditures; spending by UWG students;
and spending by the institution for capital projects.
Miller & Hightower, P.C., Attorneys at Law
changed the firm’s name with the departure of partner
Dustin Hightower. Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal recently
appointed Hightower to serve as the Superior Court
judge in Coweta Judicial Circuit Court. Attorney Chris
Wynn was named as a partner and the firm has been
renamed Miller & Wynn, P.C., Attorney at Law.
