MEMBER SUSPENSION LIST
This is just a reminder that members that are getting ready to go suspended must either have payment
in to the Union Hall by the last day of the month or it must be post marked by the last day of the month.
If a members dues are received by the Union Hall after the first day of the month or not post marked
the last day of the previous month , that member will be considered suspended and must pay a
reinstatement fee. Remember you are responsible for getting your dues paid on time.
The following members will be going suspended at the end of June, if a payment is not received
by the 30th of June: Jesse E. Arter, Jonathan Beros, Kristopher Bradford, Jeff W. Chaffin, Ryan M.

2015 JOSEPH CRONE SCHOLARSHIP FOR IRONWORKERS LOCAL 550
Back in April, a communication was sent out to the members of Ironworkers Local 550 regarding
information for the Joseph Crone Scholarship that will be awarded at the Joseph Crone Scholarship Golf
Outing on Saturday, September 5, 2015. The scholarship this year is for two $1000.00 scholarships to
be awarded to two individuals that are a child, legal dependent or legal ward of a member of
Ironworkers Local 550. The office for Local 550 would like to remind the members that if you have a
child that would be interested in applying for this scholarship that the deadline for all applications is no
later than Friday, July 31, 2015. If you can not locate the information that was previously sent out,
please contact Julie at the Union Hall at 330-455-5164 and she will be more than willing to forward the
information to you.
Ironworkers Local 550 Summer Picnic
This is just a reminder that Local 550’s Summer Picnic is coming up at Clay’s Park on
Saturday, July 25, 2015 from 11 am to 6 pm. Food and Beverages will be provided. We
are just asking again like last year that all members bring a dessert. If you have not
gotten your tickets yet please do so by contacting Julie at the Union Hall as soon as
possible. The last day to purchase tickets at the Union Hall will be on Friday, July 10,
2015 the cost of the tickets is $5.00 each and children under 2 are free. Camping and
Lodging is also available by contacting Clay’s Park at 330-854-6691. We look forward
to seeing everyone there for a great time.
LOCAL 550’S JOSEPH CRONE SCHOLARSHIP GOLF OUTING
Local 550’s Annual Golf Outing will be held on Saturday, September 5th, 2015 at Edgewater
Golf Course. Enclosed in this newsletter you will find the form for this event. If you are
interested in golfing you must get the form and your money turned in as soon as
possible to Local 550’s Union Hall no later than August 21, 2015. This event does fills up
very quickly and is on a first come first serve basis. So please don’t forget to register as soon
as possible, as you don’t want to be left out of this fun filled event.

SUPERINTENDENT TRAINING
Local 550, in conjunction with Local 17 in Cleveland and Local 207 in Youngstown will be holding a
Superintendents training class sponsored by IMPACT in Akron, Ohio on the week of September 22, 23 & 24
of 2015. Local 550 is looking for 10 to 15 applicants for this class. Part of the pre-requisite for this
Superintendents Training Certification is that you have completed the 24 hour Foreman Training
Certification or been a practical foreman out in the field for 5 years. On-Line portion must be completed
prior to taking this class. If any members would be interested but they do not have the Foreman Training
Certification, Local 550 will be performing a 24-Hour Foreman Training Class the first week of September
2015. If any member would be interested in this and has any questions please contact Bill Sherer II at the
Union Hall.
LOCAL 550 MEETING ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM
This is just a reminder to all Journeyman members of Local 550 that if you attend 8 out of 12 meetings for
2015 you will receive a jacket/sweatshirt pullover from our Local Union. The purpose of the meeting
enhancement program is to increase our members participation at our monthly meetings. We look
forward to seeing you in the near future.
IRONWORKERS LOCAL WELD CERTIFICATION UPDATES
Our Local Union can not stress how important it is to keep up with your International Weld Certification Log
Book (Orange Continuity Book) up to date every 6 months. If you let your log book lapse, you will need to
recertify and the cost of the test is $175.00. If you are interested in coming up to recertify please contact
Joe Liolios or Bill Sherer so that you can put you on the list. Also if you should have any questions regarding
your weld certifications feel free to contact Joe or Barry.
In Memoriam

Steve Stephenson, Book Number 400720, age 90, passed away on May 16, 2015. Brother Stephenson
joined the Union in 1947 and retired in March of 1987.
Health and Welfare

Valerie Trissel is still recovering from her fall, but she is recovering better than expected.

Brian Timmons was in a motorcycle accident and suffered a sever compound fracture to his leg.

Theron Hodge is recovering and back to work after his shoulder surgery.

Ron Whitmer is still off work and still recovering.

Steve Steineck is still off work and recovering from rotator cuff surgery.

Allen Reynolds is still recovering from his head injury.
