Excited to share the message, her Jewish pride, and contribute goodwill, Stefanie Warrenbrand had the design printed on magnets for her car. Below you will find listed our members’ Hebrew birthdays and the corresponding English dates upon which they fall this year. The Talmud tells us that on your birthday your Mazel (good fortune) is dominant. Your Hebrew birthday is the perfect day for reflection about your life as a Jew, and about the good deed you’d like to resolve to perform. It’s a day to celebrate your Jewish identity and celebrate with people who are close to you. At the celebration, say a prayer of thanks to G-d, resolve to give Tzedakah, and help someone in need. Put your Mazel to work, and make your Jewish birthday matter. Chabad Newsletter ● 3 Youth Update Weinstein Religious School Update “Fun and exciting” would describe how the students at the Weinstein Religious School (WRS) have learned about the High Holidays. In the sessions prior to the holidays the students enjoyed an array of activities that set the tone for the holiday and taught students of the varying customs, laws and traditions. Eating apple sandwiches, making round Challahs and honey plates, sending out New Year eCards, races, discussions and songs, enhanced the learning experience. The energy of the volunteering Teen Madrichim: Evan Glazer, Mendi Vardon and Farah Vardon certainly assisted the teachers in making a positive impact upon the students. The holiday junior congregation led by Sara Steinmetz, along with volunteering teens and parents, included a Mitzvah auction where prizes were awarded for youngsters who undertook a resolution in honor of the new year. c Upcoming WRS Events: • October 3 at 4:30pm – Sushi in the Sukkah & Rock Climbing WRS students attend free. • October 5 at 7:30pm – CKids Junior Congregation • November 2 at 6:00pm – WRS school wide Shabbat dinner TGIS - Teen Shabbat Dinner TGIS – Thank Goodness It’s Shabbos is a once a month program for teens who will join together for a Shabbat dinner and discuss the Torah perspective on current events or hot topic subjects. After the hot topic is fully discussed and debated among the teens, Rabbi Chaim Steinmetz converses with the teens about Judaic views on the subject, interjecting Jewish values and morals. October 12th marks the first of six TGIS dinners. To register your teen, please call the office 925-0770.
