MY WINTER!
The SkiArena Andermatt-Sedrun has something special to offer: your own winter.
So, what do you like? Perfectly groomed ski runs?
Check. Deep snowy slopes for freeriders? There's any
number of them. Well-maintained winter walking
trails and sunny snowshoe trails? Countless routes
await you.
Of course, we also have fun parks and kids' attractions.
You can enjoy a varied food and drink scene with cosy
pubs, iconic party huts and fine restaurants. A wellness
oasis. Lots of local culture. Cheerful people, earthy
dialects.
Come spend your winter with us. Enjoy all the facets of the Urserntal valley and the Surselva. Traditional
and unspoilt yet right on the pulse of the times. See
how we are expanding and modernising our SkiArena.
We look forward to seeing you in Andermatt-Sedrun.

MASTER PLAN OF THE SKIARENA ANDERMATT-SEDRUN
GEMSSTOCK, 2961 m
NEW SKI AREA: EXTENDING
FOR MY WINTER
Change is in the air in the Surselva and Urserntal. We are merging,
extending and modernising the Andermatt-Nätschen and Sedrun-Oberalp
ski areas. Andermatt-Sedrun Sport AG (ASS) is investing in excess of 130 million francs over the next three years.

EXTENSION
In July 2014 the Swiss Confederation
granted permission to build 15 new
lifts. Some of these will link Andermatt
to the Oberalppass. By the winter of
2017/2018, the ski resort will comprise
120 kilometers of ski runs and 24 lifts.
ASS is expanding its snow-making PAGE 08
START OF CONSTRUCTION
facilities and its restaurant and pubs, not to mention the ski runs. The facilities in the Gemsstock area will also be redeveloped and extended. In
a second phase, a direct feeder service
from Göschenen into the SkiArena
Andermatt-Sedrun is planned. The start of construction is fixed for
spring 2015. By then we should be able
to proceed with planning permission for
phase 2 and for the necessary sub-projects.
We plan to replace the Oberalp – Calmut
ski lift with a modern 6-seater chair lift
and to extend the snow-making facilities
on the Oberalp and on the Gurschen
valley slope.
You can find further information and the
latest on the extension of the SkiArena
online at www.skiarena.ch

MY SKI RUNS
ANDERMATT- GEMSSTOCK PARADISE FOR FREERIDERS AND
DOWNHILL SPECIALISTS
For freeriders and fans of steep slopes, Gemsstock (2961 m above sea
level) above Andermatt is prime terrain. It offers excellent, snow-sure
conditions right into spring and its panoramic view takes winter sports' lovers breath away.
ADRENALINE RUSH
FOR FREERIDERS
The Gotthard region, a superb off-piste
area, has been an insiders' tip among
freeriders for years. Gemsstock in particular is sure to give you an adrenaline rush with its countless couloirs and cliffs, classic alpine terrain
and slopes with an elevation of up to
1500 m.
AVALANCHE
TRAINING CENTRE
You can learn what to do in an avalanche
situation, and how to search for victims.
The Avalanche Training Center (ATC)
is ideal for groups and individuals, for
specialist courses or exams. The centre
is on Gurschenalp ( 2212 m above sea
level ) and is accessible both on skis and
on snowshoes. In the ATC you have to
use your own equipment in training. 16 controlled transmitters are installed
in a realistic avalanche cone. This enables trainees to search for victims
and stay safe at all times.
PAGE 10
BERNHARD - RUSSI - RUN
“The glacier slope on Gemsstock is my
favourite and one of the finest downhills
in the Alps,” says skiing legend Bernhard Russi about his home run.
G - PARK GEMSSTOCK
SNOW PARK ON GURSCHEN
Our G-Park is 400 m long. It offers several
jumps, some difficult, various rails and
obstacles. To chill out after your great
ride, you can lounge around
in the G-Park bar, where
funky beats in the cool
alpine air will ensure a
smashing atmosphere.

ANDERMATT- NÄTSCHEN
SUNNY SLOPE FOR YOUNG AND OLD
REALP – PERFECT IF YOU'RE (STILL)
UNSTEADY ON YOUR FEET
Families love their winter in the Nätschen ski area for its variety and its two chair lifts and two ski lifts. The ski area in Realp is small and manageable. There is a short children's lift and a somewhat longer, steeper ski lift for beginners.
The ski runs – with varying grades
of difficulty – are perfectly groomed,
just like everywhere in Andermatt and
Sedrun. Those who like higher altitudes
can take the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn
train to the mid-station.
This is where easygoing ski slopes and
extended walks start, as does the flying
toboggan run down to Andermatt. Day
passes can be bought and toboggans can
be hired directly at the valley station.
The ski area is the ideal surrounds to try
your hand (and feet) undisturbed if you
are new to winter sports or have become
a little rusty. Realp is also great for
parents who plan to help their children
practice their skills.
The rearmost village in the Urserntal
offers the perfect terrain for those not
yet ready to tackle a larger ski area.
Free parking is available right beside the
valley station.

MY SKI RUNS
SEDRUN - OBERALP
ENJOY FLYING HIGH
The Sedrun-Oberalp ski area is ideal for those who want to plan their
own winter. There are perfect runs here for beginners and advanced
skiers alike. The lifts connect the Oberalppass with the slopes of Dieni
via Val.
If you're starting your day on the
Oberalppass (2044 m above sea level),
first take the ski lift up to Calmut at
2350 m, run down into Val Val and take
the chair lift from there up to Cuolm Val
(2215 m above sea level).
From the other side, a chair lift takes
you from Dieni (1500 m above sea level)
to Milez first (1900 m above sea level).
From there you ride down to Mulinatsch, from where a modern
six-seater chair lift will take you up to
Cuolm Val. Then you have to decide: is it back to Dieni or towards Oberalp.
Cuolm Val is a mecca for freestylers. In the Fun- and Crosspark Tegia
Gronda, there is a one-hundred-metre
half-pipe. And in Sedrun there is a snow
park, where the snow tubing run elicits
shrieks of fun.
PAGE 14
FUN - AND CROSSPARK
TEGIA GRONDA
800 M SKI CROSS AND
BOARDERCROSS COURSE
Snowboarders and freeskiers love the
Fun- and Crosspark at Tegia Gronda
lift. Its location between 2000 and 2300
metres above sea level elevates it above
the ordinary. The snow glistens in the
sunshine all day long and the view is
spectacular.
Ski cross and boardercross fans can have
their own winter in Sedrun Crosspark.
The course is amazing, with rollers,
tables, jumps and five steep turns to
challenge skiers and boarders. A whole
lot of fun!
The starting point with palm trees is
visible from afar. Well-shaped features,
small and large kickers, boxes and
rails challenge the riders. After blazing
downhill, they can catch their breath
in the ski lift back up, and so begins the
next thrill.
The riders can show what they're made
of in the 100 m half-pipe. Apart from
the sporting challenges, the
park has a cool chill-out
lounge. The big sofa and
the sound system with
iPod connection are
awesome.
There is a boardercross line for challenging downhills. The line can be reserved online. School races, courses, training sessions and events are possible. For further information, go to: www.crosspark.ch

SEDRUN -VALTGEVA FUN FOR EVERYONE
Snowpark Valtgeva near the train station in Sedrun is the ideal destination for families, with an easy-to-manage ski run.
PAGE 16
Sedrun-Valtgeva is perfect for finding
your feet, be it on skis, snowboard or
Telemark skis. The hub of Valtgeva is
the "Beginnergarden" a place where
even pedestrians feel at ease. The brave can try out the tubing run and
use the 143 m magic carpet, which also
takes skiers and snowboarders back to
the top. There are two ski lifts for the
more advanced to use.

LENGTH IN KM 0,2
The five-kilometre slope on Oberalppassstreet is everyone's winter, big and
small. Kids will love taking the plunge
on two runners on the sunny slope of
Andermatt.
You can also toboggan on the other
side of the Oberalppass: from Milez to
Rueras. The route is 3.5 kilometers long,
separate from the ski run and is also
suitable for families. Dieni-Milez chair
life operates from 9.00 a.m. to 4.45 p.m.
You can hire toboggans at the valley
station. We recommend that groups
reserve their sleds in good time. Your
safety is important to us, so please wear
your helmet when snow tubing and
tobogganing.
Snowtubing is a thrilling winter activity
for all those who love speed and don't
mind snow spray. Nestled in a soft tyre
you hurtle down the around 200 m run
and then a 143 m magic carpet takes you
back to the top. The snow tubing run is
one of the main attractions in the Valtgeva
ski area, near Sedrun train station.
Half-day or full-day toboggan passes are valid in Nätschen and in Dieni.
Equipment can be hired at Nätschen
valley station or at Andermatt train
station.
TIEFENBACH - REALP
LENGTH IN KM 7, 0
There's also a spot of tobogganing to
be done on Furkapass-street. The slope
between Tiefenbach and Realp is steeper
than the Nätschen run. It takes two
hours to make the climb on foot. But
the breathtaking downhill is worth it.
A word of caution: The toboggan run is
also a winter walking trail.
So, off you go! Into your tyres. All set
for great fun, for young and old alike.

WINTER WALKS IN THE
GLEAMING WHITE LIGHT
TSCHAMUT/MILEZ/RUERAS
STÖCKLI CIRCUIT
DURATION APPROX. 2 HOURS
DURATION APPROX. 45 MINUTES
Look at these different kinds of winter:
grandparents and Mum love a leisurely
walk. Dad and godfather enjoy skiing
while the kids can't get enough of tobogganing. The Andermatt-Sedrun
SkiArena has all kinds of winter: this
walk is ideal for groups and families.
They enjoy the day in their own separate
ways before meeting to have lunch
together on the sunny terrace in Milez.
The Stöckli winter walking route gives
you an incomparable view. From up
here you can see far down into the Uri
lowlands, the Göscheneralp, Unteralptal
and Urserntal. Looking mountainward
you can see Pazolastock, Rossstock and
Gemsstock.
The wide, well-groomed winter walking
path begins at Tschamutt train station.
From here it takes walkers northwards
through the snowy young forest via
Scharinas and onwards to Milez and
Rueras.
A
NÄTSCHEN
DURATION APPROX. 1½ HOURS
This easy winter walking route goes
from Andermatt to Nätschen. The route
follows Oberalppass-street. The gradient
is gentle and never steep, and leads up
bend by bend. It's worth your while
to stop every now and again to look
down over the village, to the elongated
Urserntal valley and the peaks of the
Gotthard-Furka massif.
PAGE 34
B
Here, on the southern slope above Andermatt, you can soak up the sun
and at the chairlift station you can even
grab a power nap on the ski bar lounges.
Don't forget to wear sunscreen.
C
TALBODEN CIRCUIT
DURATION APPROX. 1 HOUR
This route is ideal for a pleasant walk as
it's flat, short and sunny. From Andermatt
train station, you head to Reussbrücke
bridge, where the route takes you left to
Hospental. You pass by the Mühlebach
stream and cross the new golf course.
You can enjoy the view of Bäzberg
mountain and the mediaevel tower in
Hospental, where the lords of the Disentis monastery used to live. At
Tenndlen you can choose to return by
the same route or follow the path along
Reussdamm as far as Reussbrücke.
D
URSERNTAL
DURATION APPROX. 3 HOURS
This easy-going winter walking route along the valley is one way to explore
Urserntal. First, you take the same route
as the Andermatt – March – Andermatt
circuit, but in March you go on towards
Hospental and Realp. In Realp you take
the train and ride comfortably back to
Andermatt.
E
TIEFENBACH
DURATION APPROX. 3 HOURS
The winter walking route from Realp
(1538 m above sea level) up to Tiefenbach

can enjoy a breathtaking view far out
over Urserntal.

CROSS-COUNTRY RUN KM 28.0
CROSS-COUNTRY RUN KM 80.0
Urserntal has 28 kilometers of trails
and is suitable for classic and skate
cross-country skiing. The trail starts
in Andermatt at Bäzberg underpass on
Bodenstrasse. You can join it at the train station in Hospental and at the Zeughaus armoury in Realp, which
is close to the train station. Skiers can
use the cloakroom, shower and toilet
facilities at the restaurant “Zum Dörfli ”
in Zumdorf, in the Biathlon centre in
Realp and at the start of the trail at
Bäzberg in Andermatt.
Twelve typical Valais villages pepper the trail in Goms from Oberwald to Niederwald. The Matterhorn-
Gottard-Bahn train stops in almost all
of these villages. Cross-country skiers
and walkers can hop on and hop off at
any point, so you can plan your trip,
just as you like. This is what makes the
trail in Obergoms so appealing. It's no
wonder that everyone enjoys having
their kind of winter here.
If you feel like a romantic night-time
cross- country ski, use the night loipe
in Realp. It is lit every Tuesday and
Thursday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
With the trail pass supplement, you can
use the MGBahn train on the route Göschenen – Andermatt – Fiesch as often as you want. This offer is valid in

SNOWSHOEING IN THE QUIET
SNOWY LANDSCAPE
1
ANDERMATT
3
HOSPENTAL
TRAIL KM 3,0
TRAIL KM 6,2
The charming circuit begins at Andermatt
bridge and heads towards Unteralptal
and Mettlen. You turn around at the
highest point of the route. Don't forget
to photograph the impressive icefall in
Gurschenbach stream.
The snowshoe trail starts at Restaurant
Central in Hospental and goes as far as
just below the ventilation shaft of the
Gotthard tunnel. It is a circular route
and rises 195 m in elevation. One attraction of the Gotthard winter landscape is that not a vehicle can be
seen whereas in summer traffic
through the pass rumbles on the northsouth axis. Listen closely: a mysterious
stillness fills the snowy mountain air.
On your way back, you cross the slope
down the valley from Gurschen and
pass Brunnen shooting clubhouse. Here, it's worth looking down into the
valley. To the south you can see as far as Hospental and to the north as far as
Schöllenen Gorge. The way back takes
you past Maria- hilf chapel, built in
1735/1736.
2
STÖCKLI
TRAIL KM 5, 5
This snowshoe trail starts at Stöcklibar
on Gütsch and offers a fantastic view
into the mountains. You can see the
peaks Pazolastock, Rossbodenstock,
Badus, Gemsstock and Gurschenalp as
well as to the end of Urserntal and the
Furka massif.
4
WINTERHORN
TRAIL KM 6,8
It starts at the Gotthardpass -street
barrier right next to the old Winterhorn
valley station in Hospental. First the
trail follows the course of the road.
Shortly after the tunnel, you climp a
steep slope on the right side, which leads
towards an old ski run. At the top of the
trail, a spectacular panorama awaits
you. From Lückli (old mid-station) the
view opens up to Kastellhorn and the
valleys of the Gotthard region. The
route takes you to the limit of the ski
tow, where the trail loops back around
to Lückli and Hospental. The descent
from Lückli is identical to the ascent.

FURKA
TRAIL KM 2,5
TRAIL KM 7,8
This short but varied snowshoe trail takes
you close to the famous ”Goldfinger
bend“ from the James Bond film ”Goldfinger“ (1964). The trail starts and ends at Furkapass-street in Realp.
From there the circular trek heads to
Gerenbrücke bridge, over the Furkareuss
river and back to the starting point.
Right after the first rise in ”Biel“, you
will see the bend where Goldfinger,
played by Gerd Fröbe, stopped to buy
fruit.
The snowshoe trail from Realp to the
Albert Heim cabin is full of variety.
When visibility is good, you can see
all across the Urserntal as far as the
Graubünden mountains. Close by the
mighty Galenstock rises up. If you wish
to shorten the trail, you can take the
way to Tiefenbach at ”Tätsch“.

URSERN VALLEY MUSEUM – CULTURE
AND HISTORY OF URSERNTAL
Ursern valley museum in Andermatt
gives you insights into local culture and
history. The museum is worth a visit for
the architecture alone. Built in 1786, it
is one of the nicest patrician buildings in
the valley.
On 25 September 1799 Field Marshall
Alexander Wassiljewitsch Suworow
established his headquarters here. The
Russian general was retreating from
Napolean's troops at the time. The Suworow House underwent refurbishment
between 1987 and 1991 with the aim
of correcting some imperfections and
restoring it to its original condition.
The museum has permanent exhibitions
on various subjects, such as domestic
life around 1780/1800, cultural and
valley history, the ski legend Bernhard
Russi as well as tourism, military, alpine
economy, alpine fauna, mule trains and
natural historical objects. The cellar
houses temporary exhibitions.
