National Service Dog Month honors the furry companions who help make life better for those in need of a little extra assistance. It’s a month to celebrate the dogs that help individuals with a variety of impairments, whether they are physical, mental or emotional. These dogs are specially trained to focus on a variety of impairments; guide dogs for the visually impaired, offer emotional support for our service members, medical alert dogs, as well as a variety of other services. These dogs help make life a little easier for those who need a little extra assistance. What can be a shock, is that training these dogs costs on average $40,000 and can take up to 2 years of training. So, National Service Dog Month also attempts to raise money to help offset the cost of training and make more dogs available to individuals in need. Manchego, also known as Chego, is an absolutely precious 2 year-‐‑old Boxer. When he’s not running around the house playing tag with us, he’s sitting on bed making kissy faces, as we get ready to go for a walk. While he doesn’t have a mean bone in his body, he will definitely lick your face until you give him a yummy treat and a belly rub. Buffalo Grove, Illinois Volume 1 – Issue 6 Crossword Puzzle Fun
