Now in it's 10th year the Nanga Mai Awards celebrate and recognise

NAIDOC Week
FROM THE PRINCIPAL
This term has been off to a very busy start. Our school
Cross Country was a very successful day with many
students putting their talents at middle distance
running on display. Well done to the organisers on the
day. Thank you to the students who put in a fantastic
effort and to all staff for their supervision and
vigilance on the day.
Our AIME program will be commencing for our
Aboriginal students next week with Mentors offering
support and speaking with students and staff.
Students involved with this program will receive a
hoodie and will obtain information and be encouraged
to strive to continue with their studies.
Bunjum continues to work with our students through
the Goori Youth Program concentrating on attendance
and building relationships with our students, we thank
the workers Mr Les Roberts and Ms Amanda Francis
for their time and efforts in the school.
Mr Steve Bowden from BDCSA has been working in
the school also to motivate students and provide
valued programs such as the Boxation course that
runs for sport on Wednesday afternoons. A big thank
you goes to Mr Steve Bowden for his time and effort.
NAIDOC Week will be celebrated in Week 10. Our
school will be organising many activities and will also
be supporting the AECG event by having student
representation from our school. All students and
parents are encouraged to participate. Further
information will be provided from the AECG through
upcoming newsletters.
I would like to take this opportunity to remind parents
about the expected standards of behaviours at
school. Intimidation of other students at school,
bullying behaviours and verbal/physical violence will
not be tolerated. Please remind your child of our core
values of safety, honesty, respect and being a
learner. It is an expectation that students will attend
school and try their best in all learning activities.
Disruptive behaviour and refusal to engage in learning
activities will result in students entering the discipline
system. These types of behaviours increase the stress
levels of others students and staff alike and is a hazard
to the well being of all those around them.
PLEASE HAVE THIS DISCUSSION WITH YOUR CHILD…...
The next P&C Meeting will be
Monday 16th May, 2016 at 7.00pm
in the ALC room.
We welcome all new members, so please come along
and find out more about your child’s school.
If you have any concerns regarding your child's
education needs at Ballina High, please call to make
an appointment with one of our Executive staff.
