AMERICANISM—Barbara Fowler
“Would Hillary Clinton Really Be the First Woman President?”
Preface:
During the Democratic Debates on
Tuesday, October 13, in Las Vegas, Hillary Clinton
mentioned a couple of times about being the
FIRST WOMAN PRESIDENT but if elected, would
she actually be the first? Read below the tantalizing historical happening regarding this very
question.
The Answer
documents his wife placed
before him. Even his private
secretary placed the memoranda on vital questions
before Mrs. Wilson, who
decided, when and if, they
reached
the
President.
Essentially, Mrs. Wilson was
the reigning monarch.
When President Woodrow Wilson was on a trip,
and as the train neared Kansas, Wilson had a
paralyzing stroke. His entourage turned back to
Washington, D.C.
Conclusion: So it was in 1920. Edith Bolling
Wilson was not only the secretary to the President,
acting Secretary of State, but also the Acting
President of the United States as well.
While his advisors were busy making plans about
what to do, Edith Wilson, President Wilson’s wife
took charge. This strong woman allowed no one
to see her husband without her permission, not
even the Vice President of the United States.
Commentary: Unlike Hillary Clinton, Edith Wilson
had no personal ambitions of her own, but she
was determined that as long her husband was
breathing – He would remain President of the
United States of America.
Mrs. Wilson even determined what pieces of
legislation were laid before the President. With a
shaky hand, Wilson signed the letters and
So, Hillary, you should have been more alert when
Bill was President and seized an opportunity
because next year a Republican will be President.

CARING FOR AMERICA—LITERACY
The Red Shoe Book Club is a way for our club members to explore and discuss
books, write and publish book reviews for the monthly newsletters and on the
club website. Everyone is invited to join us. Come with the latest book you are
reading and join in the discussion. We read books from the Mamie Eisenhower
Library Project (MELP) list. Download the MELP Recommended Book List (20142015 - Addendum 3) at the NFRW website.
Our first meeting will be at 10:00 a.m., prior to our regular meeting on Wednesday, October 28th at the
Cocina del Charro. Look for us in the room next to where we have our meetings.
All of you are aware of the Mamie Eisenhower Library Project (MELP), as we have done this project in
the past and will continue with it. Over the past 50 years, the NFRW and its members have donated
thousands of books each year to libraries, schools, hospitals and other public institutions through
(MELP). To participate, you may choose a book from the list and bring it to the October meeting. You
may decide to ask a friend or two to help you with your purchases. Monetary donations will also be
accepted at both meetings, and books will be purchased. Please consider books for children and teens.
Let’s promote our Republican values to the youth of our community.

ASSEMBLY MEMBER MARIE WALDRON
“Research Animals Might Get Another Chance”
Most of us love Beagles.
Their eager-to-please, calm
personalities make them the
perfect pet. This trait also
makes them perfect for
research purposes. But what
happens after these animals
are no longer needed for
research?
I am pleased to report that AB 147 received final
legislative approval on August 27. The bill has
been forwarded to Governor Brown and awaits his
signature. If you would like to contact the Governor to request he sign AB 147, please give his office a call at (916) 445-2841 or send him a fax at
(916) 558-3160. You may also email Governor
Brown through his website at https://
govnews.ca.gov/gov39mail/mail.php
As a dog owner and animal lover, I am interested
in protecting animals that have been used for
research in our colleges and universities. Currently,
there are no federal or state guidelines pertaining
to post-research adoption policies for animals
used in scientific or medical research. Obviously,
once they are no longer needed for this purpose,
these dogs and cats should be released for
adoption whenever possible.
Hopefully, by taking this small step we can ensure
that research animals in California have a chance
at a full, happy life with a loving human family.
Assembly Member Marie Waldron
Assembly District 75
350 West 5th Avenue, Suite 110
Escondido, CA 92025
Phone: 760-480-7570
To help accomplish this, I have joined Assembly
Member Matt Dababneh (D – Encino) as the
principal co-author of Assembly Bill 147,
sponsored by the Beagle Freedom Project. It
requires any postsecondary educational institution
that uses dogs or cats for research to offer the
animals to adoption or rescue organizations if it is
determined they are suitable for adoption. While
many colleges and universities already have
internal adoption programs, this measure will
create a statewide standard to supplement those
policies.
From Your Beagle to You:
You chose me, out of all of the other Beagles...I thank you
There's no place I'd rather be than with you...I am loyal to you
I lie down and show you my belly...I trust you
I never have to wait for my dinner...I can depend on you
I will defend you with my last bark and bite...I am your protector
You always make sure I am safe...You are my protector
I am so happy you made me part of your family... I love you
