The 18th annual CASA Child Advocates of Montgomery County
Dancing Under The Stars Gala was a huge success! More than 500
supporters danced, dined, and had a great time to help abused and
neglected children in our community on Saturday January, 26th in the
ballroom of the gorgeous Waterway Marriott Hotel and Convention
Center. Upon arriving, attendees were greeted by musician Kathryn
Hallberg and a champagne reception, followed by pictures on the red
carpet! Dana Tyson of Sunny 99.1 hosted the Gala as the Master of
Ceremonies for the evening. Music sensation Yelba’s Variety Band
amazed everyone in attendance by beautifully playing a wide selection
of music throughout the night and dancers from the Fred Astaire
Dance Studio wowed the audience by performing a variety of routines
in dazzling outfits.
Many stayed late into the night, playing casino games, dancing, perusing
the silent action and bid board, and laughing with new and old friends.
Auctioneer Ray Burgess hosted the live auction that included exotic
vacations, exciting vacations, beautiful jewelry, and unforgettable
experiences. Jeremiah Vaughan of Spring took home the grand prize
for the raffle, a vacation to beautiful Key West, Florida. The silent
auction and big board offered many exciting items, such as original
artwork, vacations, and signed memorabilia. Judith Ripka Jewelry had
a table displaying their beautiful jewelry. The wine pull drew a lot of
attention, and sold out before the end of the night.
Board Chairman Bill Friebel and CASA’s Executive Director Ann
McAlpin spoke passionately about the work of CASA. The hit of the
evening was the Fund a Child video featuring a young man named
Danny Wallace. Danny, who has aged out of the system, shared his
story on how a CASA Advocate contributed to his transition into
becoming an independent adult. The crowd rose to their feet as Danny
took the stage to thank everyone for their support of CASA and “there
are many more kids out there that need your help.”
We appreciate all who came out to support CASA. CASA Child
Advocates of Montgomery County is a non-profit organization that
recruits, trains, and leads dedicated community volunteers to advocate
for the best interests of abused and neglected children who have been
removed from their parents and are under the court’s jurisdiction.
CASA Advocates provide a voice for children who are unable to speak
for themselves. CASA is the only organization in Montgomery County
with volunteers appointed by the courts to provide this service.
Our Mission is to provide and promote court-appointed volunteer advocacy so that every abused and neglected child
can have the opportunity to thrive in a safe, nurturing permanent home.

Thank You!
CASA Child Advocates of Montgomery County would like to thank those who
made our 18th annual Gala such a great and successful event. Our sponsors, donors,
underwriters, and volunteers once again allowed the CASA Gala to be one of the
premier events in the Houston area. We hope to see everyone again at our 2014 Gala!
We would like to extend a special thanks to all of the businesses and individuals who
donated fantastic items for the actions. Thanks also to musician Kathryn Hallberg,
who once again donated her talents entertaining guests in the lobby, auctioneer Ray
Burgess for making the Live Auction even more exciting, and Master of Ceremonies
Dana Tyson, who tied the entire event together.
We would also like to thank the entire Gala Committee who worked to lead this event
to new highs. We appreciate all of the Committee’s dedication and hard work. Most
of all, we would like to give a huge thank you to TETRA
Technologies, for being our Presenting Sponsor for the
second year. Without amazing supporters, volunteers, and
Advocates, many children in our community would be
without a voice.
