• Bissell has developed more than two million square feet of LEED® Gold
certified office buildings, representing one of the largest commitments to
sustainable development in the Southeast.
• Bissell-owned Aloft Charlotte Ballantyne was the first Aloft hotel in the
Carolinas to receive LEED Certification as well as Energy Star Certification.
• Ballantyne Corporate Park features extreme connectivity with 16 miles of
sidewalks and bike paths.
• Every year, Bissell plants 80,000 annuals throughout Ballantyne Corporate
Park.
• Bissell maintains a perennial cutting garden containing 200 flower varieties,
400 different plants and over 20 plant species.
• Since 1994, more than 8,000 trees have been planted in Ballantyne
Corporate Park to ensure a sustainable tree canopy for future generations.
• Ballantyne Corporate Park includes a Fitness Trail with 20 exercise stations.
• Bissell has installed over 66 Eastern Bluebird and seven Nuthatch nesting
boxes around our golf course and Corporate Park to provide a safe nesting
environment for the birds.
• Bissell has earned EPA’s ENERGY STAR® Certification for 30 buildings,
signifying that the buildings perform in the top 25% of similar facilities
nationwide for superior energy efficiency.
• The Ballantyne houses an herb garden, featuring 50-75 seasonal herbs.
• Bissell provides its tenants education on our sustainability practices on our
community website, www.go-ballantyne.com, and on digital information
screens in building lobbies.
• At Ballantyne Corporate Park’s most recent Annual Earth Day Event,
16,500 pounds of paper were shredded and recycled and 5,800 pounds of
electronics were collected and recycled.
• Gallery Restaurant’s culinary team uses honey, harvested from honey bees
maintained at bee hives on the golf course.
• Bissell has installed thousands of LED’s since 2010 in an effort to reduce
energy consumption.
