Chamber Event Exceeds Expectations
The chamber’s recent membership event garnered 153 members in two days.
“It was a very successful membership event and we
couldn’t have done it without our committed member
partners, business and community leaders who made it
happen,” said Bill Miles, president and CEO.
The voice of business in our community was
strengthened in a big way, as member volunteers
reached out to others in the business community
to let them know what the chamber has meant to
their business and how it makes a positive impact on
the business community. From the $.5 billion dollar
investment in the Lowcountry, to increased tourism
numbers and the successful recruitment of JetBlue and
Allegiant Air, our continued momentum is a strong
reflection on our thriving business community.

Friday Night Fun at
Shelter Cove Community Park
Sitting on a blanket on the beautiful banks of Broad Creek
is officially the Friday night place to be this
summer as the merchants of Shelter Cove Towne Centre present Sunset Celebration: a weekly outdoor concert featuring live
music and laid back family fun at the pavilion in Shelter Cove Community Park.
The newly opened community park features a wonderful
playground for the kids, bike and walking trails, and of course, the
beautiful view of the sunset over Broad Creek.
Pack your beach chairs and a picnic supper – or purchase one from
one of the local merchants – and gather with your friends and family
on the lawn for Sunset Celebration, 6-9pm every Friday evening from
June 19th to August 14th.
The shops and restaurants at Shelter Cove Towne Centre will be
open for business during Sunset Celebration, allowing visitors to
stroll down Shelter Cove Lane and do a little gift shopping while
enjoying a slice of pizza, a burger, or maybe some ice cream, frozen
yogurt, or a French pastry for dessert. It’s all in a summer evening’s
play at Shelter Cove Towne Centre, Hilton Head Island’s premiere
waterside destination.

Business Report Features Island Tourism
Investment
Destination Appeals to Multi-Gen Market
Tourism projects total more than $1 billion in South Carolina. The
recent May Columbia Regional Business Report finds that developers have
made significant investment in new tourism projects across S.C. since last
July, according to the S.C. Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism.
Lowcountry projects named included the $25 million for Harbour
Town Clubhouse at The Sea Pines Resort, a $100 million investment for
expansion of The Inn at Palmetto Bluff in Bluffton and $30 million for
amenities at the new Moreland Village at Palmetto Bluff.
The Wall Street
Journal’s May article
on multi-generation
travel featured Hilton Head Island as the ideal setting for extended
families to bond. Sharing a vacation-rental home affords more casual
togetherness and provides deeper-level emotional and social benefits.
In addition, research shows multigenerational groups spend more
than other travelers on shared, kid-friendly activities, according to D.K.
Shifflet & Associates, national tourism and travel research firm.
Hilton Head Island has
been named one of the
Top Resort Communities
in the South by ConventionSouth magazine, a leading
meeting planning resource. The May resort issue
features the 2015 top list showcasing a select group
of 17 destinations that exemplify a true resort
destination for meetings.
The island was recognized for offering diverse
opportunities to event planners and for enhancing the
“Return on Experience” for events based on recreation,
fitness, health and spa opportunities, dining options
and available meeting venues and accommodations
for groups.
It starts with a
conversation.
