At Key Homes, our idea for building better
homes is really quite simple: raise the bar on
specifications and construction. We only accept

Fundraising for the new MRI is critical, even
more so because these costs are not covered
by any government grants or subsidies.
The hospital made the decision to purchase the
MRI in advance of a fundraising campaign
because it was offered a significant savings to
our community by purchasing in a bulk order
with several other hospitals. The new MRI at
Bluewater Health has already made a significant
difference to the residents of Sarnia-Lambton
and neighbouring communities. Not only is it
meeting high patient demands, the advanced
technology of the MRI allows for examinations
beyond the capabilities of our previous
equipment.
Since the new MRI was commissioned, more
than 11,000 scans have already been performed.
With this new state-of-the-art equipment,
Bluewater Health has performed more than 400
pediatric MRI scans. This was not possible with
our previous MRI. This means children and
adolescents can now access scans at Bluewater
Health and, most importantly, in a timely
manner and close to home. Our new MRI
prepares sequences that weren’t possible on the
old model, with sharper images through
correcting for motion. 3D reconstruction is also
possible, and additional sequences generated
from a single scan means a patient doesn’t have
to spend as much time in the machine. The
increased capabilities of the new MRI allow for
early detection of medical issues and make
neurological tests possible – which means
patients do not have to travel to London or other
medical centres. In addition, breast MRIs which
are tied to Bluewater Health’s Breast
Assessment Program have begun. From children
to the elderly, the MRI is proving its value every
day and benefits both patients and staff.
