e are very pleased to welcome Kathleen Reddy. Born in Sydney, NS and
with roots in Antigonish and Cape Breton counties, Kathleen began learning
her ancestral language at St. FX. She has taught Gaelic in schools and colleges in the
Highlands and Islands of Scotland and has served as an instructor for immersion
courses in the Halifax area and at the Gaelic College in Cape Breton. Currently, she is
a Gaelic instructor at St. FX.
It is also our honour to have with us, once again, Catriona Parsons and the
members of the Gaelic Choir. This Ecumenical choir was first formed in
May 2009 when the first annual ecumenical Gaelic service was organized
for Gaelic Month. As there was a need for a choir that could sing the metrical psalms as led by a precentor, together with new and old hymns belonging to the
Protestant and Catholic traditions, singers from different parts of the province came
together. Their music is a way to strengthen Gaelic cultural practices in local churches, thus boosting traditionally Gaelic communities, Their ministry of music continues
to be called upon by many churches and community groups in various parts of our
province.
We extend our appreciation to ALL who have offered
their time and talents during this time of worship.
This week's bulletin is dedicated in celebration of All
who over the past 13 years have made this worship so special.
