3. Distance Learning Environment Update
We have two polycom video conferences. For streaming video, we use adobe flash
media server. Those properties I mention above exclude some others supporting property
like video camera, audio mixer, etc. About the class capacity, we have a dedicated class
room that can accommodate 50 participants in Center for Information Technology and 50
participants in GDLN.

No update on Unhas network.
6. National Research and Education Network (NREN) update
Indonesia NREN INHERENT is back to not active since Januari 2012. Connection
between site varies between 1Gbps between big cities and 32 Mbps for medium cities.
East Indonesia especially in Unhas is still connected via 2 Mbps satellite link.
7. Your organization’s role in NREN
Unhas is connected to INHERENT and GDLN Asia Pasific
8. Lecture attending situation
The participants who joined the lecture depend on the topic offered. And we invite
not only the students of Unhas but also the students and other stakeholders from
outside campus to join in as long as the topic related to their field. The latest class that
we have joined were Advanced Topics for Marine Technology and Logistics class, and
HTML5 Workshop/class.
9. Ideas: how to make student more active to join the class?
We have announced the class through official website of Unhas and contacted the
faculty that related with the topic when there’s event coming up. And we also need to make
some flyer related to any interesting topic that SOI class will provide. The other effort is
announcing through university newspaper.
10. Research and Development in Network, including applications:
Several Research have been conducted by Departement of Informatics Engineering.
