Cristo La Roca will host a Food Sale next
Sunday, September 20th from 10:00 AM to
2:00 PM. Please come down to the rectory
basement for delicious Dominican dishes. All
proceeds go to our parish.

quisieras ayudar en rezar un parte del rosario, favor
de dejar un mensaje para nuestro diacono en
formación – Carlos Pichardo – en la rectoría.

My good friends,
Mis buenos amigos,
As we have mentioned a few times, Father Jose, the
staff and myself are really hoping for a great, great year
together as we head toward our 125th anniversary. And
let me repeat that we want to begin with the youth.
After that, we will tackle the things of the ‘older folk’.
Como estamos preparando celebrar nuestro
aniversario de 125 años, creo que este año será algo
muy especial. El Padre José y yo, junto con el equipo
pastoral, tenemos muchas ideas nuevas. Pero vamos
a empezar, como había mencionado antes, con los
jóvenes.
Altar servers – new and old – are asked to attend a
meeting on Saturday
September 26, at noon.
Please note the change
in the date. We will
explain the need to
change the date in
greater detail very soon.
However, this earlier
date still gives every boy
or girl a chance to have
registered in CCD
(religious education on
weekends) if they are
not in our Catholic
School).
There is one change
that has to be made
almost immediately to
adult as well as kids..and
this is our manner of dress on the altar. From now on,
in order to give good example to the children of the
parish, even adults will be asked to wear presentable
clothing in the sanctuary – even during the week. This
means that there should be no inappropriate wording on
shirts, no ripped jeans, and no sneakers. Women
should not have revealing apparel. The sanctuary is
simply not the place!
And may I ask of all our ministers that, even when
you are asked to step in to substitute because someone
did not show up – that if you are NOT properly
prepared, then politely refuse the offer to step in at the
last minute. This has happened a great deal lately and
it has to stop.
Friends, liturgy and Eucharist are the most
important things we do here in Blessed Sacrament.
Maybe because our ministers and servers take such
pride in their service (really, thank you very much
because you all usually look excellent) that our masses
are growing so nicely.

Pedimos a todos los jóvenes quienes desean
servir como monaguillos asistir una reunión el
sábado 26 de Septiembre a mediodía. Tuvimos
que cambiar la fecha porque el Padre José tiene
sueños de pastoral juvenil – y un viaje – muy
diferente. Explicaremos más en el futuro. Pero
esta fecha nos da bastante tiempo para todos los
jóvenes, si no estudian en la escuela católica,
inscribirse en el catecismo. La reunión es para
todos, ellos que han servido y ellos que son
nuevos.
Llegaremos a diferentes reuniones e ideas
para los adultos pronto. Pero una cosa que no
puede esperar – la manera de vestirse en el
santuario.
De hoy en adelante, nosotros adultos
tenemos que dar buen ejemplo a los jóvenes.
Pues tengo que pedir públicamente a todos. Y
empiezo dando gracias. Casi 100% ustedes suben al
santuario excelente….pero a veces, cuando dicen que
en el último momento, necesitamos un sustito,
algunos suben mal preparado. Mejor decir que NO,
por favor, si no tienen la ropa correcta.
Por ejemplo, les voy a pedir que piensen bien en
las camisetas. Algunas palabras no deben de leer en
el altar! Jeans que son rotos (ripped) y tenis
(sneakers)...eso es feo.
Dios merece mejor…
mujeres—ustedes todas son bellas, pero por favor—
cubrir el cuerpo.
Otra vez, entiendo que vinieron muchas veces solo
para asistir misa y no servir. Pero si te piden en el
ultimo momento y tienes ropa apropiada, favor de
decir que NO.
La liturgia es la cosa más importante que hacemos
aquí. Quizás es porque en nuestras celebraciones de
la Eucaristía, ustedes casi siempre parecen
‘reverente’…quizás por eso estamos creciendo
rápido.

DIOCESAN FOOD DRIVE:
Diocesan Food Drive for needy families will be September
20th. The drive will be part of Catholic Charities WalkwithFrancis campaign which seeks to walk in solidarity with Pope
Francis and his message of mercy for the poor. Participating
parishes will be acknowledged at the 8th World Meeting of
Families. Please bring non-perishable food items to the parish
on the weekend of September 20th.
PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL:
Heavenly Father, bless our Shepherd, Pope Francis, in his visit
to the United States on the 8th World Meeting of Families.
May we be inspired to walk with Pope Francis in message of
mercy and love for poor families and respond through prayer,
service and action.
LA COLECTA DIOCESANA DE COMESTIBLES
Habrá una colecta diocesana de comestibles no perecederos
para familias en necesidad. La colecta será parte de la compan͂a de “CaminarconFrancisco” que trata de estar en solidaridad con el Papa Francisco y su mensaje de misericordia y
amor para los pobres. Las parroquias que participen será
reconocidas en el Octavo Encuentro Mundial de Familias. Favor de traer sus comestibles el fin de semana del 20 de Septiembre.
CAMINAR CON FRANCISCO EN WILLIAMSBURG
Habrá un evento inicial de “Walk With Francis in Williamsburg” el domingo 20 de Septiembre. A partir de las 4pm en la
Misiόn de San Dameano en 25 Avenida Nassau (y N. 15 th
Street) de Brooklyn, NY, el 1 ½ millas paseo contará con oraciones y reflexiones sobre el mensaje del Papa Francisco sobre
la Ecologia, la dignidad del los pobres, ancianos y los marginados. El evento concluirá con una misa en la Iglesia Nuestra
Sen͂ora del Monte Carmelo (275 N. 8th Street y Havemayer
St.) a las 6 pm.

A Walk With Francis event in Williamsburg will kick
off the WalkwithFrancis Campaign on Sunday, Sept.
20th. Starting at 4 pm at the San Damiano Mission at
