Question: How many years have you taught at Cedar Heights? Answer: My teaching is the finest… I don’t know. I guess you have two answers: it’s always good, or never because I always have to improve. Answer: This is my 14th year. Question: In middle school, was the subject that you are teaching your favorite subject? Answer: No. I enjoyed health and fitness and math was my second favorite. Question: What other jobs did you have in the past? Answer: I have an accountant degree so I used to be an accountant. I used to work at a golf country club. And I used to work for the Seattle Mariners. Question: What is your favorite food? Answer: Cereal-Cocoa Puffs. Question: What is your favorite funny video of the month to show? Answer: That’s a tough one. There’s so many funny ones. I think I like, uh, Fire Marshall Bill. He really makes his demonstrations life-like. He really tries and involves the kids in his lesson. Poems I trick and treat- why do one? For me it's always lots of fun, Scaring children away for good, Scaring them out of my neighborhood, Dressing up gore and frightening, I dash through our neighborhood faster than lightening, creeping up on grownups and giving them a good scare, Sneaking up on toddlers, putting spiders in their hair, Makes me howl with delight, Giving everyone a good fright, As the air turns dark and swallows the moon, Halloween is ending far too soon. My bucket is filled with treats galore, Yet me being greedy I need just one more, Scare this taunting Halloween night, So I pull out a mirror and give myself a fright! Trick and Treat! By: Solen Aref Spooky as you can see with darkness you cannot believe, pumpkins with faces and candy filled heads as they scream and howl from the jumps of fear, dressed as a ghost, zombie and wolves, the Timber Wolves that is. HAPPY HOWLWEEN! By: Aaron Carino The Little Heroes Welcome to the strike zone!! Every weekend at Pacific Lanes in Tacoma, the Little Junior’s League takes center stage. It’s a kids bowling league and let me tell you they are calling all the shots! In particular is the sight of a strange occurrence that happens every Saturday morning. Cosmo Castellano is 6 years old and is in the process of revolutionizing bowling. His teammates are fascinating too. Bret does a thing with his arms, on a good throw Bret will swing his arm back and forth, but on a bad one his arm swiftly stops in midway. Taylor will flail her arms backward, and sometimes even beg the ball to get that strike! Back to Cosmo though, as he starts his approach he runs up and throws the ball to the ground. As it rolls to what seems to be a gutter ball, the ball then quickly curves back towards the pins and he gets a strike! Everyone gets lucky once in a while, but Cosmo has it down. Every time it is about to go to guttural dome, it spins back and hits the exact pins he has been aiming for! This kid is truly amazing. Cosmo says “One day I just walked in and just started spinning the ball.” His best score is 260, he has had a 209 but when he has his off days he gets around the 180’s all the time, his average score is 120. He is a style list, a revolutionary, and an original bowler that will go far in this career … And he is this week’s story on the little heroes! By Aniston Denckla Resource -Komo4News Stories by Students Going to School It was close to the first day of school. Jessie was getting nervous. She was going into 7th grade, and she thought the kids wouldn’t like her. Jessie was popular last year, but she thought everything would change for her. She was about to find out. It was the first day of school. Jessie was walking through the doors when she was stopped by one of her old friends; she asked her how her summer was. Jessie was happy that she still had a friend. She was feeling good about this year. Jessie thought she was going to have to act like everyone else, she was wrong. Her friend Hannah told her to be herself and if no one likes her then they are missing out; she should be herself and stay that way. She noticed her friend was right, she should be liked for who she really is - herself. To be continued... By: Haley Anderson Question of the Month: Nike or Adidas?
