COUNSELLING
Counselling - Introduction
This course provides a basic introduction to Counselling theory and practice. The course will be helpful to
those who are using, or are going to use, „counselling‟ or „listening skills‟ as part of their paid or voluntary
work, as well as those wishing to know more about counselling or explore the possibility of training for a
new career. It is an ideal introduction if you are considering working in this sector or progressing on to the
Level 2 certificate.

Counselling Certificate Level 2
This course provides learners with an array of knowledge, skills and techniques that are essential in
counselling, as well as providing opportunities to develop their own personal qualities and attributes. The
course leads to a nationally-recognised, Level 2 certificate in counselling skills which is ideal if you are
interested in working with people or wish to progress to the additional training that you would need to
practice as a counsellor.
Counselling Certificate Level 3
This course builds on the Level 2 programme and takes a much more in depth look at how to develop
counselling skills and the use of the varying theoretical approaches to counselling. It is ideal for learners
who have already completed the Level 2 course or have had significant experience in working with
people. This nationally-recognised, Level 3 qualification is a step closer on the path to becoming an
accredited counsellor.
Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling Level 4
When combined with the Level 3 Counselling Certificate, this qualification meets the basic training
requirement for recognition as a qualified counselor. This is a 2-year programme and students are
required to find a suitable placement where they are able to conduct 100 hours of supervised
counselling. Students will produce journals and learn from one another and the tutor to develop their
understanding.

TEACHING, TRAINING, TEACHING ASSISTANTS & SUPPORTING CHILDREN
Level 3 Award in Education and Training (previously PTLLS)
The course is suitable for people who are looking to teach in the post-16 sector, or who are already
teaching but do not have a teaching qualification. It is also very useful for anyone involved in a training
role in business or industry. You do not have to be teaching already to do the course and no teaching
hours are required outside of the class. This is an excellent introduction to teaching.
Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training (previously CTLLS)
The Certificate follows on from the Award qualification and develops your skills in relation to the role and
responsibilities of the teacher or trainer within the Lifelong Learning sector. It is ideal for those in a part
time teaching role looking to progress to the Diploma or Certificate in Education/PGCE, or those already
working in a training role. You will need to complete 30 hours of teaching / training practice concurrently
with the course and dedicate time outside of class to assignments (arranged independently). Applicants
will need a minimum of a Level 3 in their subject area, or employer endorsement, and it is recommended
to have the Level 3 Award/PTLLS. An excellent qualification and insight into teaching post-16.
