Approximately 3,000
people packed the Tabernacle
on Sat., Apr. 11 to enjoy a funkfilled jam. The Funk Jazz
Kafe's Spring Festival '98 had
an important mission besides
bringing Atlantans a good
time.
Partygoers
donated
about 1,200 pounds of canned
goods to benefit the Atlanta
Community Food Bank.
Inside the venue, one had
a variety of things to do such
as gettin' jiggy with it on the
main floor, relaxing to the
soothing sounds of Jigaboo
and Yab Yum recording artist
Laurnea in the poetry cafe.
For a change of pace and
escape from the swarms of
people, the art gallery al­
lowed those with artistic in­
clinations to leave their mark
on walls using different mate­
rials such as paint, chalk or
colored pencils.
Funk Jazz Kafe's next
scheduled event will take place
at a brand new venue in July.
Jason Orr, promoter of the
event said, "Funk Jazz Kafe is
always a new experience."

$2-3 per quarter hour for in­
state students depending on
their program of study. Out of
state tuition will increase
about $5 per quarter hour.
According to Tom Lewis,
vice president of external af­
fairs, the increase, "the lowest
in years," will help cover the
increasing cost of education in
Georgia.
'The Regents decides on
tuition based on the needs
and costs of the university,"
said Lewis. "Tuition is the only
part of costs that Georgia
State receives directly from
students. The remainder
comes from tax money appro­
priated to each university."
