SYMPOSIUM REGISTRATION:
All speakers, presenters and participants are requested to pre-register and register for the
symposium. There is NO REGISTRATION FEE.
Please contact the organizers of the symposium for further inquiries.
Pre-register via email:
 For early registration (between 1 May to 25 September 2016), you may fill-in the Preregistration Form (Attachment 1) and email to [email protected].
 The form can also be downloaded from the SIMSEA website (http://simseaasiapacific.org/callfor-abstracts-simsea-regional-symposium-2016-on-26-28-september-2016-at-quezon-cityphilippines/).
 Receipt of submissions will be acknowledged via email.
Register on-site:
 Registration on-site is on the 1st day of the symposium, 26 September 2016 beginning 7:30 AM.
 Each registrant will be given a symposium kit/bag and meal stubs on the same day.
ICSU ROAP SYMPOSIUM GRANT:
The grant will be awarded to a limited number of speakers and participants who intend to present
their papers and participate in the whole course of the symposium. No more available grants as of
now. Please contact the organizers of the symposium for further inquiries.
Travel and accommodation information
 Grantees will be awarded with the following:
a. Roundtrip airfare - the organizers will book the roundtrip airfare (economy class or
cheapest flight) of the grantees. The grantees are requested to submit a copy of the
passport with details to the organizers. Flight schedule of the grantees will be based on
the pre-registration form submitted. Flight booking details/tickets will be sent to the
grantees via email.
Visa, travel insurance, additional to allotted baggage allowance and travel meals are
excluded in the grant.
International participants will receive 30kgs. of baggage allowance. Philippine/domestic
participants will receive 15kgs. of baggage allowance.
Manila, Philippines has 4 airport terminals:
1. Terminal 1: NAIA Terminal - International flights except Philippine Airlines, PAL
Express, Cebu Pacific, AirAsia Zest, Tigerair Philippines, All Nippon Airways, Cathay
Pacific, Delta Air Lines, KLM, Emirates, and Singapore Airlines.
2. Terminal 2: Centennial Terminal - All Philippine Airlines flights only, and it is divided
into two wings: North wing for International Flights, South wing for Domestic Flights.
3. Terminal 3: NAIA International Terminal - International flights not served at Terminal
1.
4. Terminal 4: Domestic Terminal - All domestic flights other than Philippine Airlines.

b. Airport transfer – the grantees will be provided with an airport transfer (airport-hotelairport) upon their arrival and departure in Manila. In case you missed the transfer or got
lost, please contact the organizers of the symposium.
The Tourism Promotions Board Philippines, Department of
Tourism will provide reception and facilitation of the
delegates of the symposium at the airports (terminals 1 - 4),
please look for the cardboard at the arrival lobby showing
the name of the symposium (SIMSEA Regional Symposium
2016).
c. Four-night hotel accommodation - the organizers will book the hotel accommodation of
the grantees at Microtel by Wyndham Inn & Suites, UP Ayala Technohub branch.
Each guest will be staying in a Standard room with 2 Queen-sized beds and complimentary
breakfast for 2 persons. You may ask for the room keys at the Front Desk by presenting
your name.
Charges for the use of hotel phone (international and national long distance calls), internet,
extra mattress/person and meals other than the symposium meals are excluded in the
grant.

d. Meals during the symposium – the grantees are entitled for free meals at the symposium
venue, AM/PM Snacks & lunch (Day 1-3) and Dinner (Day 1).
NOTE: The provisions stated above will only be entitled solely to the grantees. Please
keep your Official Receipts and Boarding pass with you and submit to the organizers
during the symposium. In case of lost and faded receipt/s, please provide signed
justification letter (indicating particulars/items, amount, date of purchase, and reason
of loss/fading of receipt/s) and address to:

TRAVEL AND ACCOMMODATION INFORMATION FOR THE PARTICIPANTS
Below are the information for the participants. For further inquiries, please feel free to contact the
organizers of the symposium.
a. Roundtrip Airfare – it is recommended that the participants are requested to book their
own flights early in order to avail affordable airfares.
Please submit your flight details by filling-in the pre-registration form and email to
[email protected].

b. Airport transfer – the participants can take an airport taxi (yellow taxi), regular taxi
(white/colored), and Coupon taxis. These taxis (Fig.1) can be seen just outside the arrival
area/lobby. GrabCar/GrabTaxi and Uber are also available in Metro Manila.
Please do not negotiate your fare with the taxi drivers, pay what is indicated in the meter.

The following are the suggested routes in order to reach the symposium venue from four
Manila Airport terminals:
1. Terminal 1 – there are 3 routes (colored) suggested for you to take, please refer to the
map (Figures 2 - 4). The estimated travel time and distance are also indicated inside
the red box.

3. Terminal 3 – there are 2 routes (colored) suggested, please refer to the map (Figures 8
& 9). The estimated travel time and distance are inside the red box. Route #2 will have
to pass-by the toll gate.

e. Local Currency - The currency of the Philippines is peso (Php). 1 US Dollar is equivalent to

f. Weather - The summer monsoon brings heavy rains from May to October. In addition, the
Philippines is in the typhoon belt, and the country suffers an annual onslaught of dangerous
