Remember the three little pigs and the big bad
wolf that blew their houses down?
Turns out they lived in Louisiana...at least according to author Sheila Hebert Collins’ Cajun
retelling of the old tale.
Hebert Collins will visit the new Thibodaux
Branch Library at 2 p.m. on April 14 to read for
children from Les Trois Cochons, her version of the
The Three Little Pigs, and to lead children in song
and more.
Her visit is a part of Nicholls State University’s
14th annual Jubilee: A Festival of the Arts and Humanities.
It is free and open to the public.
Several of our library
branches are participating
in World Book Night, a free
book giveaway to spread
the love of reading to those
who normally don’t read.
Supplies are limited.

Celebrate National Library Week
You belong @ your library.
That’s this year’s theme for National Library Week, a week when libraries,
library lovers, and library supporters celebrate all things “library.”
These days, that covers a lot.
We’re celebrating National Library Week from April 8 through April 14, along
with many other of the nation’s libraries. Stop by for family-friendly fun.
Here’s a glimpse.
THIBODAUX BRANCH
Children’s author and illustrator Sheila Hebert Collins will read for children, lead them in Cajun songs, and more at 2 p.m. on April 14. Hebert is the
author of Les Trois Cochons, a Cajun retelling of the classic Three Little Pigs.
This program is part of Nicholls State University’s Jubilee: A Festival of the
Arts and Humanities.
BAYOU BLUE BRANCH
People of all ages are invited to create their own Haiku poem and then paint
a picture that visually expresses their poem at the Bayou Blue Branch. The
program begins at 2:30 p.m. on April 13 and is a great way to also celebrate
National Poetry Month. The library will provide refreshments. Registration is
required to attend this program. To register, call the library at 580-0634.
CHOCTAW BRANCH
Children ages 3 and up and invited to get crafty and make their own bookmarks at the Choctaw Branch at any time from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on April 10 at
the library.
GOLDEN MEADOW BRANCH
Enjoy coffee and conversation at the Golden Meadow Branch’s Café Veille
from 2 to 4 p.m. on April 11. While you’re there, check out the library’s Historical Center, which provides visitors with a glimpse of life during Golden Meadow’s earlier days.
LAROSE BRANCH
Children of all ages are invited to the Larose Branch’s “Fancy Nancy Tea
Party” from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. on April 11. Come dressed up in your favorite
fancy attire (if you like) and join us for tea and crumpets (a fancy name for
biscuits). Parents are also encouraged to attend.
LOCKPORT BRANCH
Join staff members at the Lockport Branch for the library’s annual Open
House at 4:30 p.m. on April 11. Enjoy refreshments and see what your local
library branch has to offer.
RACELAND BRANCH
The Raceland Branch will host a coffee and jazz social for adults at 1 p.m. on
April 13. Enjoy coffee and your favorite jazz musicians. Those attending are
encouraged to bring samples from their own music collection for discussion.
