Deceptively simple, but surprisingly multilayered – like the old, black and white movies
that she adores. Gela possesses vitality and

Although at first, she often portrays a quiet

And then she napoleons her way into
GMTP-type of grades. But not everything
is about that, as she manages to be the
responsible Bebeng and the best Nen
that she always is. As she’s the only
person who ever went to PIPAC for real,
and how she manages to knock real
sense into everyone, friend or foe. No
Darcy, Edward, Iker or even Toru can faze
her. Not even rare and sudden burps, 4
times a year, as she sends off the most
courteous gastronomical wonder. She’ll be
conquering most of the world soon (Lille is
done with) as she’ll probably get that villa
in France sooner than later. And after this
Ateneo episode, she’ll still be oblivious in
her limelight, and then the credits start to
roll, everyone sees their names on screen
and when *just play it! comes on, you and
everyone else can’t seem to stay calm.
Karla is a creamy, ice-cold Starbucks
Caramel Macchiato on a hot scorching day:
the girl that you can count on whenever
and wherever. She is your ultimate
shopping and Starbucks buddy. She knows
how to have fun but can be downright
serious when the situation calls for it.

Dy, a singing sensation, is easily susceptible
to the potent and not so potent effects of
alcohol. Lemon anyone? J She is an image of
versatility at its finest – mature and childish
in a flash, whenever she chooses. Sweet,
patient, thoughtful and responsible, we can
only marvel at how she is able to preserve
her sanity. Her exasperated kindness and
magnetic personality has drawn numerous
friends toward her side. She sincerely cares
for them with incomparable generosity and
sweetness. Her golden voice might have
helped in melting our hearts, especially that
Videoke session when “Ocho-Ocho” went on
track. She has the uncanny ability of putting
people at ease with her sincere and lighthearted nature. She may seem innocent
to many but with her out-of-this world but
super funny “hirits”, one may see her true
color. To Dy, a golden treasure, the best is yet
to come.

Dumb, blatant, klutzy and Blonde-like are
few of the adjectives that you would not
associate with a girl like her. She is a person
of substance who is passionate about the
things that she does and the causes that
she believes in. She is definitely not the
damsel-in-distress kind of girl for she can
hold her own in whatever situation she is
in.
One thing is for sure, Karla is real. You

She can make papers in a jiffy, conjure

recommend the best places and food in
the area; BUT ask her to listen in class and
sit still and you’ll find her doodling on
her handouts to fight the plague of her
short-attention span. She may have a lot of
quirks, but she is the kind of friend whom

And he has only just begun.
Angela is someone who stands out in
a crowd. Not just because of her tall
stature but also because of her vivacious
personality. She is a true friend, and
although she may be a drama queen at
times, it’s all part of her charm.
There’s more to her simplicity than
meets the eye. Her gregarious and lively
disposition makes her muy cariñosa. Her
smile can make you melt in no time. She
is not the type who will usually wear
fancy outfits. She prefers to make tambay
instead of spending time inside the malls
shopping as other girls love to do. She
is that kind of person who would always
want to try new experiences. You would
hear her talk about cars as well dominate
ou would compare her life in school and
outside school, one would be led to the
conclusion that she is definitely passionate
about CARS.
He is his own rock band. He rules his own
world and does everything his own style.
His signature look is his dark-rimmed
glasses, DC cap, shirt, jeans and dunks.
But beneath this Maynard get-up, he
is definitely no rebel. In fact, he is the
absolute gentleman. He’ll even make
excuses just so he can open the door
for you. In school, he is your true blue
Atenean: focused, disciplined, committed
and driven. He is a very independent
person, a responsible son, a loving kuya to
his sisters, and a genuine friend. You can
sit in a room with him, he’ll throw a joke
or two or probably even ten and you’d
feel comfortable with him by just doing
anything, even nothing. Whether you
badly need to have a serious talk, a hearty
laugh, or just someone that could make
you smile after a long day, just plug in your
Ipod and listen to the Maynards.

ORSEM, running from Bellarmine hall to my
next class in CTC, the Battle of Belfield, JEEP,
Ateneo-La Salle UAAP Games, overnight
“study groups,” Gateway during breaks and
rushing back to Ateneo to get to my next
class, chicken strips, bagoong rice, sisig and
turon-que, service hours.
But then, according to Father Ferriols, these
words are only metaphors. None of them will
ever be able to capture the fullness of my
Ateneo experience. But one thing I am sure
of is that I will truly miss what these words
represent.

she is able to infuse her own style to just
about anything. With her distinct fashion
sense and unwavering drive, she aspires
to be the next Andy Warhol. There is no

I am extraordinary; I am just your
ordinary average everyday sane psycho,
supergoddess. - Extraordinary – Liz Phair
She’s simply an ordinary face amongst a
thousand faces but she still feels like an
oddball at times. She’s usually this quiet
and reserved person, but she’s definitely
someone who never runs out of things to
say once you get to know her. She can be
your average sane psycho especially when
nervous or under pressure.
We’ve known Drea for 8 years now, and yet,
she never ceases to surprise us. She may be
the most dynamic and spontaneous person
we know—always catching us off guard
with her eyebrow-raising comments and her
exceptional jokes! Vibrant, spontaneous,
and connivingly funny, Drea personifies the
good ol’ metro life among all of us in the
barkada. She has a penchant for shoes and
bags and fun parties, but this doesn’t come
without the smarts. Perhaps what is most
endearing about Drea is her fierce loyalty to
her friends. She values our thoughtfulness
and appreciation to her, and gives back
genuine companionship. She has a kind
heart, thus making her rise through all
obstacles she had. The Drea we know is truly
beautiful both inside and out and she makes
us very thankful to God, for not everyone is
lucky enough to have a friend like her.
The words Kate Marañon don’t so much
as describe a person as they describe an
indescribable phenomenon. One difficult
aspect of the Kate phenomenon is its
defiance to be accurately nailed down by
adjectives. Sometimes, the only sane way
to think of Kate would be in oxymorons:
she’s an outgoing introvert, a clumsy
lady, a reliable spirit of whimsy. Some
words, such as perfectionist, obsessive
compulsive, witty conversant, enjoyable
companion and good friend are not really
descriptions, of Kate – they are fibers of her
being.
As a statuesque beauty, she commands
an aura of confidence, grace and vitality
to the people around her. Being a dutiful
and obedient daughter, and a supportive

Raisa can be as kengkoy as any girl can

silly she looks. Obviously a fan of hip-hop,
as proven by her iPod, this is just one of
the many crazy sides that she has. She
has a very fun-loving and adventurous
disposition but remains grounded with
principles. In fact, at a young age, she is
already well-traveled and hopes to see
more. Despite big dreams, she’s just as
grounded as any other person in school.
You’ll usually see her in jeans or shorts
paired with a plain, collared shirt and her
all time favorite black and green Havaianas.
Now, with a personality like that, it’s no

If Blake’s insight rings truth, Fonso is the
guy holding the squeegee and bucket
of soap water. He measures out his life
infinitely and lives it by it, which is what
makes him so fun to be around. No matter

who is always willing to go out of his way

chatting with others. No, Gelo isn’t bipolar;
he just loves both solitude and company.
He can switch between different

people may not get his tastes, but these, as
well as his vivacious way of talking, playful
mind, sharp wit, and infectious laughter,

Jenn is a paradox. She is an artist in
chains. She often escapes the fact of her
strangeness and claims to be normal
despite thinking and eventually doing
outrageous things that normal people
wouldn’t do or think of. Strange or not,
Jenn is truly a friend you can count on.

count on her when it comes to directions;
she’s strangely never late. Jenn is someone

If for some incredible reason you find
yourself stranded on an island with no
one but RJ to keep you company, here are
a few things you need to know. One. He
just might turn his basketball into his best
friend a la Chuck Nolan of Cast Away. RJ is
a basketball fiend, which explains the fact
that most of his spare moments are spent
on the court – or at least some semblance
of it. Two. He has a plethora of jokes to
keep both of you entertained. You don’t
have to laugh at them; however, you are
on a stranded island, might as well make
the most of it. Three. His acquaintance
can be acquired easily but you can tell if
you’re friends by his choice of conversation
topics: anything goes – really. Just perfect
for those stranded-on-an-island moments.
Then, you’ll be probably be glad you were

Within school grounds he flaunts rocksolid arms like there’s no tomorrow.
Entering the classroom with a smirk he
thinks he can charm you and the one
next to you. Trying to prove he’s Filipino,
his puny eyes give him away. His laugh
echoes, and silence fills the cafeteria. It’d
probably be wise to steer clear. Then one
day you feel alone and he pops up from
a corner. You’re down and he stretches
out those arms for you. They’re heavy but
you don’t notice it this time. He lets out
another memorable punch line and your
swollen eyes smile with his. He hears you
out and later you find yourselves laughing
in tears from the triviality of it all. You
think, “Geez it’s done for. Jay’s too good a
friend to pass off.” Jay, a real buddy to his
boys and a perfect gentleman to women; a
person you can cry and laugh with.
If you’re walking to your next class and a girl
suddenly stumbles towards you and, while at
it, accidentally spills the contents of her bag
on you and then showers you with sorrys,
her limbs broken and all, there is a 90/100
chance that it’s none other than Bea Santos.
Trust me, this is not an exaggeration. If
after that incident you become friends with
her, consider yourself an instant pedestrian
guide/ pulse checker as she will always get
almost hit by a vehicle or forget to breathe. But also consider yourself very lucky because
to have Bea as a friend is to have a friend
through and through. She may have to trip
on a banana peel just to come to your rescue

If one were to describe Raymond Santos in
a single word, chances are, you would be
scouring through dictionaries for weeks.
Some might find him to be an intimidating
presence, with his towering height and
distinct features. While others, fortunate
enough to personally know him see a
humble and trust-worthy friend. More
known as “Mong” among his peers, this
man rarely says no to his friends, unless
there’s a good reason to. He makes people
comfortable and is always a good laugh. He
is the ideal person to share your problems
with. Even when he just listens, his silence
speaks of genuine trust and support that
never fails to cheer you up. Moments shared
with this guy always wind up becoming
instant classics. Though looks might make
one believe that Raymond is all about the
fun, inside is a battle-hardened person,
independent and responsible at such an

Ady is a bubbly mass of energy
underneath a multicolored nail polish
coat, a self-confessed lover of all things
cute and fluffy. Captivating, eccentric and
sometimes misunderstood – she has made
her own special place in college and in the

knowing what she wants and how to get

ladders. Her ability to multi-task and to

Jose loves the theatre, and he will do
anything to be in it. It’s just sad that when
he finally found his niche, he was already in
his junior year. That’s why he only has two

to Eastwood for karaoke sessions, belting

Nash reminds me of Ally McBeal. You know
the type - built like a pixie, amusingly bubbly,
and yes, admirably spunky. At times I wonder
how old she is. I have this strange feeling she
doesn’t belong in college because she has this
incredible sense of innocence and idealism
only children in this increasingly secular world
have. She talks of her dreams to make this
world a better place, and the cynical side of me
wants to knock some sense into her head and
tell her how reality works. But at the same time
I also know that there’s a side of her that’s not
a child anymore; that does know only too well
how the world works, and doesn’t have to be
reminded of the occasionally cruel facts of life.
Because What I love most about Nash is that
in spite of her recognition of reality, she still
wants to meet it head on. In the end, it’s not
just a matter of resilience or courage, but the
power of her character. And just as John Cage
told Ally a long time ago, all I can say in the
end is, “Don’t let the world win, Nash Tysmans.
Don’t let the world win.”

“Snakes” velll-lluuuzz!” With his bristling
biceps, frog-like leaping ability, and brilliant,
do-it all brain, Jake is the paragon of the
student-athlete. Although a man of many
names (many of his own invention), seventh
heaven Veluz is not a man of many faces.
What you see is truly what you get. This
self-proclaimed commissioner of drinking
sessions has a built-in diplomatic license
to charm. Awkward first-meetings become
reunions between old friends. Whether
it’s going to war or drowning your sorrows
at a pub, Jake is one of the few people
you’d gladly have go with you on both. But
beneath it all, what this true man of the
world shows us is that you don’t need a
license to be an ambassador of goodwill to
make a difference in another person’s life.

when roosters start to crow, and stretches
out again as the sun begins to dip to the
west, it’s actually a relief that she hasn’t
