Creating

a
Bainbridge Island Chamber of Commerce
Sustainable
The Chamber of Commerce, with the support of several other island sponsors, hosted
an all-day conference at IslandWood on Dec.
7, 2009, where approximately 60 Bainbridge
business leaders heard from a host of national leaders and local panelists working on
creating more sustainable economies.
Presenters included experts in sustainability,
such as Kevin Wilhelm, author of Return
on Sustainability, and a panel highlighting
local success stories of eco-friendly businesses and organizations. Panelists, (pictured above) included reps from Watson
Furniture (formerly of Bainbridge), Town
& Country Markets, Bainbridge Graduate
Institute and IslandWood.
At day’s end, Chamber V-P Jeff Waite introduced a resolution - unanimously adopted
by the Chamber’s Board of Directors – supporting sustainability on Bainbridge using
elements of the Natural Step process.
“The resolution was adopted to provide us,
as the board, a method of decision making
that keeps us in line with real science and the
principles of sustainability,” Waite said.
The Natural Step, founded by leading scientists in Sweden, has become a model for
communities desiring to aspire to develop
an ecologically, economically and socially
healthy community for the long term.

the Chamber Sustainability Resolution visit:

Former Seattle Mariners pitcher and Fox Sports Net broadcaster Bill Krueger,
(above left) will be one of the keynote speakers at the Chamber’s fifth annual Healthy
Living Expo slated for Saturday, January 30, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Woodward
Middle School.
Krueger, who is actively involved in the Autism Speaks movement, will discuss Autism and its effects on children, based on his experiences raising an Autistic child.
He will also talk about the Mariners and their prospects for the 2010 season. A panel
of physicians familiar with the medical aspects of Autism will accompany Kruger’s
presentation.
The Healthy Living Expo is an interactive trade show with Exhibitors, Presentations
and Demonstrations. This year’s event will feature exhibits on healthy eating, nutrition, fitness, cancer prevention, weight loss, safety and much more. Organizations
will also offer free health screenings, a Bloodmobile, and activities for the kids.
New this year is a Food Court - “Enjoy a Healthy Taste of Bainbridge” - featuring local restaurants, grocery stores, wineries, and specialty food businesses offering
samples of healthy food and beverage choices.
Also on tap will be players and coaches from the Kitsap Pumas Professional Soccer
team, who will perform demonstrations in the “Pumas Zone” and give talks on training, technique, equipment for soccer players of all ages. This is a great opportunity for
aspiring soccer kids and adults to rub shoulders with the professionals.
The Expo is being produced by the Chamber in partnership with Virginia Mason
Winslow Clinic, Island Fitness, Zindell Acupuncture, Island Health & Rehab,
Dr. Chris Grams, and The Bainbridge Review. Exhibitor cost is $200 for a 10 x 10
space. Chamber members will be afforded a 20% discount until Jan. 22. Cost for Food
Court Exhibitors and Non-Profit Exhibitors is $80. For a complete schedule of events

Spotlight on Business
Gayle Rich Style
Personal Wardrobe Stylist
(206) 919-3036
www.gaylerichstyle.com
From the Working Executive Woman, to the Mother who wants
to feel empowered by a new-found sense of self, I will help your
life with how you appear. I love to help women of all shapes and
sizes look their best, by guiding them with clothing that flatters.
I provide a gentle, kind and honest environment to help guide
you to look your best. I never impose my personal style onto my
clients. Your style is within you, and I will help you discover it,
while I guide you into clothing in your style which is flattering
for you.
My job is to free women from the daily stress, and add strength
to, “What am I going to wear?” / “I don’t like the clothing that
I have.”/ “I am frustrated by my shape.” / “I don’t have time to
shop!” / “I feel frustrated by pushy salespeople who just want to
sell me something.”
When you feel confident with your appearance, you gain the confidence and self esteem which drives a positive outcome in your
everyday life. You will excel in your work, you will play happier,
and your family will also see the difference in you: in how you
feel about yourself.
From re-organizing your wardrobe closet, to educating about
your best style and fit; shopping with you or for you; matching
good clothing that you already own with some new items...or a
new wardrobe: your invigorated confidence will help your life
every day. Your self-worth and your performance at work will
benefit tremendously.
I started Gayle Rich Style in 1997 and have an extensive background in Retail Management and also as a Buyer. I never sell or
re-sell any items of any kind. When I am working for you, I am
only working for you and for your best you!
Please visit my website www.gaylerichstyle.com for more details
about my business and my approach with my clients.

How about making 2010 the year when you
lose that excess weight and regain your health
once and for all? Get help with diabetes, high
blood pressure, high cholesterol, menopause
symptoms and other health issues associated with extra weight. I
will support you in losing your excess weight through a comprehensive, medically-based program that is combined with one-on-one
coaching. The result is long-term weight loss. My clients generally
lose 2-5 pounds per week, and because the meals provide just the
right ratio and quality of protein and carbohydrates, you will be losing your fat, not your muscle.
I learned about this program when my 38 year old step-daughter
lost 62 lbs. and a 67 year old friend lost 40 lbs. and was able to go
off of her blood pressure and cholesterol medication. When I tried
the program I lost 10 lbs. in 3 weeks and lowered my cholesterol
almost 20 points.
My program has been in existence for 30 years, has been used at
Johns Hopkins Weight Management Clinic and has undergone clinical studies at the National Institutes of Health.
Lose your weight with a healthy program that is extremely affordable, quick and easy for even the busiest of people.
