• During the event, the new Unesco Valencia headquarters– located in the Tamarit Palace – was
inaugurated and the traditional blouses were presented to the ‘sequiers’ of the Water Court (Tribunal
de Aguas) of Valencia, made with ‘Acquasave® by Tavex’ fabric, given by the company.
• Acquasave® by Tavex’ involves the total reduction of water consumption during the fabric dyeing
process. More than 300,000 litres per day only during this process. A figure that translates into
guaranteeing the daily consumption of water during at least 80 years to more than two million people
today suffering water stress.
• During the opening, the Fashion and Interior Design students of EASD Orihuela – an institution with
which Tavex has a collaboration agreement- presented the installation and performance ‘tejiendo
agua’ (weaving water) covering the new Unesco Valencia headquarters with ‘Acquasave® by Tavex’
denim fabric and presenting a textile performance inspired by water.
• This exhibition, named as ‘Proyecto H2.0’ can be visited in the Tamarit Palace in Valencia until the
middle of April.

Water Court of Valencia and UNESCO
in the opening of the new UNESCO
Valencia headquarters
During the event, the new Unesco Valencia headquarters – located
in the Tamarit Palace – was inaugurated and the traditional blouses
were presented to the ‘sequiers’ of the Water Court (Tribunal de Aguas)
of Valencia, made with ‘Acquasave® by Tavex’ fabric that had been
given by the company. Limited edition blouses – merging tradition and
modernity- made with ‘Acquasave® by Tavex’ denim fabric especially
designed to commemorate World Water Day 2013 and the bicentenary of
the date when Francisco Javier Borrull, defended the Water Court before
the Cádiz Cortes in an attempt to save it from disappearing. An effort
which managed to transform this meeting of ‘sequiers’ into the Court we
know nowadays – responsible for resolving water problems – in this way
becoming the oldest justice institution in Europe.
In parallel, the ‘Proyecto H2.0’ exhibition was also be inaugurated,
where the Fashion and Interior Design students of EASD Orihuela – an
institution with which Tavex has a collaboration agreement- presented
the installation and performance ‘tejiendo agua’ (weaving water). A
textile installation inspired by water using no more than pieces of fabric
and garments with the same water saving philosophy. A different way of
showing the denim fabric system, using garments knotted together and
interlinked, which can be visited until the middle of the month of April in
the auditorium of the Tamarit Palace in Valencia.
* UNESCO was officially appointed by UN-Water to manage the preparations for the International Year of Water Cooperation and World Water Day / 22 March 2013, with the motto ‘Cooperation in the
Sphere of Water’. The sphere of water is vital for security, the fight against poverty, social justice and gender equality. Good management and understanding between the different groups of users
guarantee access to water, remedy its shortage and directly contribute to reducing poverty, a ‘priority millennium objective’.
The inauguration had the participation of the
most senior representatives of Unesco Valencia
as well as the city’s Council and Town Hall. An
event which contemplated the importance of
water and the social awareness to guarantee its
efficient management.
The current president of the Water Court of the
Vega de Valencia was responsible for collecting the
commemorative blouse from the president of Unesco
Valencia. All members of the Court received a blouse
in representation of the trustees of the eight irrigation
channels: Quart, Benácher, Faitanar, Mislata-Chirivella,
Favara, Rovella, Tormos, Mestalla and Rascaña.

H2.0 is the name of the project that sums up Tavex’s commitment to water conservation and its efficient
management. A project based on collaboration between public and educational institutions that every 22 March –
coinciding with the celebration of World Water Day – opens its doors to show the work performed by the students
of the selected schools.

UNESCO(*) Valencia (United Nations Educational, Scientific and
Cultural Organisation), showing its commitment to the sustainable
