It’s Everywhere
Harnessing geothermal energy is possible virtually anywhere.
No matter what climate you live in, the temperature throughout the year
varies. For some climates that means blazing summers that cool to frigid
winters. What many people don’t realize is that the temperature below
ground (regardless of climate or season) stays fairly consistent all year. The
ground absorbs 47% of the sun’s energy as it hits the Earth’s surface – this is
how the ground is able to hold a consistent temperature. Whether you’re in
chilly Seattle or balmy Miami, the temperature just below the frost line stays
relatively consistent.
The most important thing to remember is that geothermal systems don’t create energy – they move the energy that is already there. This means that the

Installing our nitrogen dry charged R22 unit is an economical
way to assist the homeowner in getting their system up and
running
The EPA does not allow the use of dry charged units for new installations. An exception has been made for
outdoor unit replacements in existing R22 systems. This is a big help for homeowners on limited budgets, or
apartment complexes with many systems needing replacement.
Dry-Charged R-22 Component White Paper
2010 marked some significant changes to the HVAC industry with the transition from R-22 to
R410a, based on the Montreal Protocol enacted in the late 1980’s. When rules were enacted
by the EPA in the United States, there was an exception that permitted the manufacturing
of “dry charge” (nitrogen filled) unitary condensing units for field charging with R22. The dry
charge units are intended to be a replacement component for existing R-22 units that need
to be serviced or replaced. They cannot be used in new construction or new installations.
According to a recent article by Steve Tusa, an analyst with JP Morgan Electrical Equipment &
Multi-Industry Equity Research, these dry charged units will be a positive factor in 2011 and
will help deal with some of the RNC headwinds that we still face. He says,”Nitrogen-charged
R-22 unit replacement is much less expensive for the consumer to install. We think more
would choose to replace rather than repair if OEM’s, contractors and distributors choose this
route.” Sales of dry charge components are forecasted to be 20% of total air conditioning and heat pump sales for
2011, so this is shaping up to be a significant part of the market. ARHI is now going ahead with listings of
dry-charged units in their directory, so contractors can be assured that the force of the industry is behind
them. While our product management team at Concord does not see any indications that the EPA will close
this avenue, their past actions have shown that they do not strand inventory in the pipeline, but instead
grandfather in existing stock.

Upon completion of this course, students will understand how to
install traps for the safety and the performance for the plumbing
system, avoid the installation of prohibitive traps and interceptors, protect the trap seal, and to discern the proper use of Interceptors.
Upon completion of this course, students will be familiar with how
plumbing practices applies to: construction, alteration, movement, enlargement, replacement, repair, equipment, use and
occupancy location, maintenance, removal, and demolition of
every building or structure or any appurtenances connected or
attached to such buildings or structures.
Troubleshooting Gas Heating Equipment
This course will focus on troubleshooting gas heating equipment
with an emphasis on hot surface and spark ignition systems. Topics covered include proper checkout of safety controls and operating controls, how to properly measure flame response and
how flame rectification works.
Hydronics 201
Hydronics 201 is a more in depth look at closed systems, types
of piping, primary/secondary systems and flow rates, Pump sizing, filling, purging, accessories and system start up will also be
discussed. Also learn more about pump types and reading pump
curves.

In this course you will learn how to interpret the National Electric
Code for your specific work projects. With this training you will
also learn how to use the code book as a tool to understand that
you are doing the right thing. Items covered include: Overcurrent
protection, grounding, surge arresters, tvss, wiring methods, conductors for general wiring, enclosures and boxes, requirements
by cable type, requirements by conduit type, flexible cords and
cables, fixture wires, switches, panel boards and switchboards.
This is the second of two courses on the Mitsubishi M&P series mini
split systems. This course will cover start up, operation, functional
