Kennedy Space Center
By: Tommy B. and Sean B.
Nice Shades!
Waiting for the
movie to begin.
During a cloudy day, Mrs. Dennis's and Miss
Jesse's classes went to Kennedy Space Center
by cars. When we arrived at NASA, we went to
the main entrance. Then we decided to go to the
Rocket Garden. On the way we passed a big play
dome. We saw rockets in the garden. After the
Rocket Garden, we watched a movie about the
Hubble Telescope in 3D. Then we ate lunch. After
lunch we split up into groups. A lot of people
went to the memorial. Then we went to the play
dome. Our field trip to Kennedy Space Center
was out of this world!

We also saw the
printing press where the
newspapers are made.
We were shown the roof
top where the employees
play basketball. We saw a big clock

Paragon’s EGGcited
By: Mrs. Whetstone
Many of you may be wondering why all the middle and high school
students are carrying around eggs and treating them like real babies; It is
all part of a science project. That’s a little crazy, you may say, but no it is
not, and here is why: middle school is learning about animals. Both middle
and high school are learning about health and growing up. We thought it
would be a great idea to show them how hard it is and what a great
responsibility it is, to be a parent or to take care of another living thing. Ask
them and they will tell you that it wasn't easy. We had more than a few
"scrambled eggs.” However, we had a lot of fun and the middle school has graduated to taking care of real
animals....meal worms. So, in the coming weeks you may see those around campus. Paragon middle school
is now worm-tastic!!!
It’s the Perfect Pet!
Miss Maureen’s and Mrs. Emma’s class got a
pet tadpole. When it turns into a frog, the
class will know if it is a boy or a girl. That’s
when it will get a name.

James Li
(Jadon’s

spent an
entire day at Paragon teaching all the
students different Martial Arts techniques.
Later in the day, a special assembly was
held where Mr. Li and his team
demonstrated different techniques and
showed a variety of weapons. This was a
very exciting experience for everyone!

After the trial, they took a tour of the Court House.
The NBA and Paragon
During the NBA All-Star weekend, four of
Paragon’s athletes were invited to the NBA
All-Star Jam at the Orange County Convention
Center. Mark A., Alex A., Erik O., and Chris T.
got to sit court side and watch a game
between the East and West. Each team
included members of the NBA, WNBA, Hall of
Fame basketball stars, and Special Olympic
athletes. After the action packed game, all
the Special Olympic athletes got the chance
to work with NBA and WNBA players in a
basketball clinic. Basketball players including
Bo Outlaw, Dikembe Mutombo, and Chandler
Parsons from the Houston Rockets worked on
dribbling and shooting with the Special
Olympic athletes.
When asked about the experience, Mark said,
“It was a great day. The greatest thing was
when we played the hoop game.”

Under Attack
Once there were four pets, a gerbil named Gerball, a cat
named Extend-O-Claws, a dog named Short Cap, and
another dog named Clumzzy.
“What’s a super hero?” asked Short Cap. “Well,” said
Gerball, “let’s see how I can be one. Look! I can turn into
a ball.”
“Well, look at me,” said Extend-O-Claws, “I can be one
too. I have extendo claws.”
“Well, we dogs have a couple of super powers.” said
Short Cap.
“We do?” asked Clumzzy.
“Yep, we do.” said Short Cap. “Our first super power is
super smell and our second super power is night vision.”
“Don’t forget about super
strength!” said Clumzzy.
“Hey, what’s going on?” yelled
the owner. “Go outside you
three mutts! Hey weren’t there
four mutts? Well I think I’m
just seeing things.”
“HA! Camouflage HA HA!”
laughed Gerball.

Imaginary New Years Friends
Creative Story
By: Tommy B.
Once upon a time there lived a young boy name T.B. His parents were preparing for New Year's
Eve. That night while Tommy was firing the fireworks, his dad said, "Tommy, light them up. "
Suddenly a bang of fireworks exploded on the ground! Tommy laid on the ground dizzy. Tommy
woke up in an imaginary land. "Where am I?" asked T.B. "You’re in Claytonville Imaginary Land,"
said the familiar voice. Tommy turned around and saw a tall gummi bear the size as a book shelf.
"Who are you?” asked T.B. "Me? Why I'm Gummi Bear Red." said Gummi. "I'm T.B." replied T.B.
They walked and met new friends: Mr. X-Ray, Mr. Globe, Mr. Bigfoot, and Inspector Gadget. "Hello,
T.B." they all said. Suddenly a flash of light surrounds T.B. "Bye!" they all shouted. T.B. woke up
and saw his parents.

SPORTS
Football
By: Emily B.
What is football? A football is a ball that is a round diamond shape. People play
football outside or at a game. Football games like The Super Bowl, Sugar Bowl,
Capital One Bowl, and Florida Citrus Bowl are played in Florida and around
the entire United States. Football is also played in college, like UCF, UF,
and FSU.
February 5th, everyone watched the Super Bowl and the New York Giants
won the game! The Giants had 21 points and the New England Patriots had
17 points. They did so great!
Special Olympics
Students have been

in cycling events.
The first set of games
was held Saturday,
February 25th at Lake
Highland Preparatory
School.
All the athletes
played hard and
showed good
sportsmanship.
Athletes are now

By: Edwin V.
During Christmas Break, My dad and I
played a game of Farkle. In most games, I
beat my dad by a bonus 1,500 points! My
dad tried hard to beat me, but I scored
another bonus. This is how to play Farkle:
I learned that the first player to get 10,000
points wins the whole game. Whenever
there are no ones or fives or triplets of 2,
3, 4 or 6, you get Farkle (lose all your
points from that turn), even if it is the
beginning of your turn. My dad and I have
a great time playing Farkle.
