The Big Game of Everything
Chris Lynch
“You have to love your family. You do, even
if you don’t, right? You don’t have to agree
with them or appreciate them or go to concerts with them or even understand them,
but you have to love them. It’s a rule, and it’s
the kind of rule you don’t break unless you’re
some kind of animal.”
Jock’s summer job is to work at his grandfather’s mini-golf course. At first, Jock
thinks it will be an easy summer with golf
cart races and not much else. However, as
he is rubbing sunscreen on his grandpa’s
back and worrying about the inevitable
buy-out of the course, Jock realizes he
might not survive the summer... unless he
enlists the help of his kooky family.

Jaclyn Moriarty

She likes to give her teachers notes on their lectures and

when she is forced to take a new class called Friendship
and Development. Why would she need that? As she
gains some self-awareness in this class, though, she also
gets the feeling that she is slowly being murdered. She
fails a test for the first time ever and can’t stop feeling
sleepy. What is going on? Who would want to get rid of
her? Or, maybe a better question to ask, who wouldn’t?
The narrative is sprinkled with emails, diaries, phone
calls, and other formats which help tell the tale and
solve the mystery.

If Mitty Blake spent as much time doing homework as he
does avoiding homework, then he would be at the top of
his class. For his science project, Mitty finds an old envelope with scabs in them and decides that will be sufficient
for his project. Little does he know, this envelope contains
smallpox scabs, and he may have just exposed the entirety
of New York City. This book is fast-paced, suspenseful,
and a fun read for anyone who isn’t a germaphobe!
