Pentons Haulage
Pentons is a leading supplier of chilled warehousing and
distribution services for customers situated across the
UK including many major blue chip manufacturers of
food and grocery products. The company’s
multi-temperature and ambient warehousing and
distribution services include collection, storage,
order-picking, delivery and product invoicing with
full 24/7 back office support.
It operates in a demanding environment where the high
quality and hygiene standards associated with the
temperature-controlled storage, handling and distribution of
food products are matched by the similarly high standards
of temperature control, product shelf life, accurate order
fulfilment and on-time deliveries demanded by major grocery
multiple retailers and wholesalers.
The Challenge
Pentons is committed to continuous development through the
introduction of best storage and warehousing practice and
use of the latest high performance IT technologies. Mobile
communications are particularly important to ensure the
delivery of the highest level of customer service by ensuring
that staff are contactable at all times. As part of an ongoing
process to determine that the most effective technology
solutions were being deployed, Pentons wanted to update the
phones used by key staff across the organisation including key
executives, managers and drivers of Pentons modern truck
fleet.
The Solution
As the renewal date for the existing mobile phone contract
approached, Pentons undertook a thorough review of potential
suppliers to determine which could deliver best value and the
highest level of personal service moving forward. With
longstanding experience of working with Ocean Telecom, it
quickly became apparent that the high level of local, pro-active
service provided by the Oswestry-based firm could not be
beaten.
Ocean Telecom proposed that Pentons stayed with O2 as the
network continued to provide the most cost effective contract
based on the company’s specific geographic requirements.
Pentons was also provided with an equipment fund that
enabled users to select the phone they required with quick and
easy upgrades as needs changed. The company selected
seventy two handsets, from the latest smartphones through to
robust working phones that would withstand the rigours of use
by drivers.
The changeover process was completed within two weeks
including new SIM cards for each of the iPhones that were
ordered. The new phones were delivered direct to Pentons
along with a free accessory pack containing a leather carry
case and car charger for each user.
