2:AUDITIONS/CASTING
Wefeelstronglythatasaconservatory,itisimportantthatauditioningispartof
thelearningprocess.So,weholdourauditionsduringthefirstcoupleofclasses.
Thekidswillbegivenmaterialstolearnandreviewathome,andthenallthekids
willauditiontogether.Ifyouarenewtotheconservatoryyoucanuseoneofthe
followingsongs“OhWhataBeautifulMorning”or“ManyaNewDay”or“Happy
Birthday”or“TwinkleTwinkle”.Ifyouhavealreadybeenwiththeconservatory
pleaseprepare16to24measuresofaclassicsonginthegeneraofRodgersand
Hammerstein.
Ourpolicyforcastingissimple:
Wedoeverythingwecantogiveeverychilda“moment”thattheycancalltheir
own–whetherthisisalineorasongorapartofadance–butwecannot
guaranteethateverychildgetthepartthathe/shewants.Itisveryimportant
thatweall–teachersandparents–stresstheimportanceofteamworkand
collaborationinputtingonaproduction.Thefunisputtingtheshowtogetherand
thenperformingitforanappreciativeaudience!
Wealsodoeverythingwecantokeepthecastlist“asis”fromthedateitissent
out.However,wedoneedtoreservetherighttoadjusttherolesduringthe
rehearsalprocesstoaccommodateforunforeseenobstacles.Forexample:illness,
frequentabsences,andevenbehavioralissues.Iftheremustbeachangeinthe
casting,wewillnotifytheparent(s)inadvance.

4:VOLUNTEERING
Hillbarnisafully-staffedtheatercompany,andassuch,weusuallydonotask
parentstovolunteerwiththeproducingofashoworclass.However,thisdoes
notmeanthatwe’renotopentoanyonewhowantstobeinvolved!So,ifyou’d
liketohelpout,wehaveanumberofareaswhereyoucanvolunteeryourtime
andtalents.Beforetheperformances,wehave:costumes,props,sets–finding
gathering,painting,etc.
Duringtheperformanceswehave:ushering,concessions/candygramsalesand
greenroomchaperone.

Hillbarn Theatre Conservatory
Hillbarn Theatre is offering all cast members and their families a
chance to place a personal message in the Oklahoma! Program
Each message must be no more than 50 characters including spaces! (Please note
there will be no exceptions to this restriction.)
The cost of each message is $35, which will be used to help offset the cost of
printing the program for the show.
