Fremont Arts Council Rounds 22 Years
of Community Development Through the Arts.
The Fremont Arts Council is proud to present the 22nd Annual
Solstice Parade, featuring more than 56 community ensembles
in a grand display of joyous street theater. The Solstice Parade
is composed entirely of volunteer “community groups”, friends,
and families. Lead by both amateur and professional artists, they
start creating their ensembles four to five weeks before the parade
happens. In the spirit of community development through the arts,
most of the ensembles seek new participants to join them each year.
It is easy to get involved, meet new people, and learn a new art skill
like papier mache’, stilt-walking, or float construction. Participation
is free and everyone is welcome to join in.
Plan to get involved next year by visiting Fremont Arts Council
on-line at www.fremontartscouncil.org to learn about parade
workshops and ensembles.

Grantees:
The Dave McKay Parade Grant
Program supports new art and
performance for the Fremont
Solstice Parade. Dave was a
celebration artist who brought
his thoughtful intention, master
costume-design skills, and
deep attention to detail and
craftsmanship to everything he
created. He believed art should
be a part of everyone’s life.
This year, the Fremont Arts
Council awarded $4500 to seven
artists and artist teams, in his
honor.

Thank you.
Thank you.
The Fremont Arts Council thanks everyone who took part in producing
this parade. Especially our committed board of directors, the artists and
volunteers, the community and our neighbors. Everyone who saved a box
of gew gaws or brought in art supplies, and everyone who resisted donating
paint. Thank you to the volunteers who ran our garage sale and everyone
who donated something and to those who bought something. Thank you
to the people of Seattle who have been appreciating and supporting our
parade since it started 22 years ago. Thank you to the Fremont Chamber for
keeping the tradition of the Fremont Fair alive, and to for the good work
they do in the community.
