Spar buoys
Fendercare spar buoys are typically used in difficult environmental
conditions as an alternative to fixed beacons. Due to their designed-in
low centre of gravity, they are as stable a design of buoy as you will find,
and in that sense they replicate the performance of fixed beacons.
However, they have the twin benefits of being much more easily
installed than fixed beacons (no subsea piling work required) and much
more suited to deflecting the energy of a freak wave or an off-course
vessel.
Fendercare offers spar buoy designs in GRP, elastomer and steel, and can
supply them either unlit or with full lighting and electronics package all as per customer preference.

Spar buoys
Also within this family of spar-type navigational aids are a range of
articulating buoys. These are suited to deep water use in the harshest
environmental conditions and carry the benefit of an extremely
favourable return on investment case when compared to the lightships
which they are designed to replace.
Starting at 3.5m in length with a focal plane of 2m and a maximum
mooring load of 150kg, and going up to structures with an overall length
of dozens of metres and a potential focal plane of 20m or more, there is a
proven Fendercare buoy for any such requirements which you may have.
Via our naval architecture division we are also able to design appropriate
mooring systems for these buoys, which we are then able to supply as
part of a turnkey package. All Fendercare buoys can either be supplied
with the lantern which we would recommend as offering the best
combination of performance and value for money for the given scenario,
or can be configured to accept the customer's own preferred electronics
package. Commissioning services can also be provided, when required.
