April Rally
The April rally was held at
Pioneer RV Resort in Port
Aransas, TX. This was a
return for our club and once
again proved to be a very
nice park with a great rally
hall. It was a tremendous
success. 31 coaches made the
trip to Port Aransas, that
included 3 visitor coaches,
one of which came all
the way from Port
Aransas.
The plans made by
Wagon Masters Don & Ann
Thomson, Bob & Susie
Scheffler and Ed & Dorothy
Hearon. Were appreciated by
all.
The theme was Easter and
there was a Easter Dessert
contest held during the Friday
evening meal. The
winners were 1st
place-Jo Stanger
and 2nd placeDoni Gordon.

Once again we just proved
the rumor that the South
Texas Renegades are a Eating Group with an RV Disorder.
Wednesday
morning two
couples
braved the
early morning and went fishing-catching 17
fish between them.
While
Wednesday
evening,
some of the
early arrivals ventured out
on a Dolphin Watch and they
actually saw about 12 dolphins.
Friday’s Red

luncheon was
held at the
Spaghetti &
Seafood
Works. We just about filled
the place to the gills.
They are friends of Larry &
Penny Ebest, but we won’t
hold that against them.
WELCOME to South Texas
Renegades!!

The other couple is Ken &
Marcie Gilley. They traveled all the way from Port
Aransas to join us and celebrate their 56th Anniversary. They have also just

Although the weather during
the rally was good, with
sunny skies and cool ocean
breezes, those arriving on
Tuesday did encounter some
very high winds during their
drive.

busy with painting, reading,
jewelry making, photography,
and mixed media journaling.
WELCOME to South Texas

TIPS & TECH
Ever thought of different ways to
use a KOOZIE? Well, while in
Perry, we noticed everyone was giving away Koozies. I was talking
with a GEICO rep and he told me
that someone had told him they use
the Koozie upside down on the top
of a glass or can to keep the bugs
and flies out. I have one glass wine
glass which hangs with my acrylic
glasses. Luckily it hasn’t broken so

homes which have taken us to Alaska,
Nova Scotia, all of Canada and all of the
lower 48 states. Name it we have seen
it. We would escape the heat in Texas and
every year in mid May we would board up
the house and head North, returning in
late September. We both love the water
and I love to fish so those destinations
always came first. We did not join FMCA
until 1989 when we became members of
the South Texas Renegades. We also later
became members in two other chapters
one which I helped to form. In order to join
the Renegades at that time it was by invitation only. You were put on a waiting list
as the membership was capped at 100
members. I served as Treasurer for two
years and as Assistant National Director
for several years. We have made many
long time friends and still enjoy their
friendship even though most are now in
retirement homes. Motor homing as been a
great life for us and we treasure all the
adventures we have had.”
Thank you Bob & Mary Louise for sharing.
Remember, we want to profile as many members as
we can. Over the past several months, we have
added 6 new members. They don’t know much

Everyone looks for ways to make life easier. In this

ANNOUNCEMENTS
Last year, the price of replacement
nametags increased to $10.25. If you
require a new nametag, please let the
membership chairperson know. You
will be given an order sheet to send in
with your payment. The payment will
no longer go through the treasurer to
the nametag people, thus cutting out
the middleman.

will be taking
orders for STR
“EGGS”. He
will be compiling the order list through the June
Rally. If you are interested in ordering
an “EGG”, please contact him at [email protected] or speak with
him at the rallies.
PLEASE NOTE!!
Also, the chapter will be ordering
some more flags. Anyone interested in
obtaining a flag, please notify a member of the board so we can place a
large enough order to cover everyone
and continue to have some for people
joining in the future.
The minutes will be emailed with 4
days of the end of the rally.
It’s never too early to start thinking of 2015 dues. Dues for 2015 are
due by the end of the Jan 2015
Rally. Bridget will begin collecting them at Oct’s rally and they
are $10.
The following schedule
will be observed by the
secretary:
The rally notification will
be emailed as soon as
received from the wagonmaster for that rally, usually right
after the previous rally. If you do
not receive it by the 15th of the
month, please contact the secretary.
The newsletter will be emailed
within 7 days of the end of the rally.
If you do not receive either email
within the stated timeline, please
email Phyllis at
[email protected].
Thank you.

The South Texas Renegade
s Chapter of FMCA
was established in Septemb
er, 1978 when a
group of 12 couples met in Ro
ckport, TX. From
this modest beginning, the
South Texas Renegades chapter has grown to
include more than
70 member coaches and has
become one of the
most active chapters in TX.
Until recently we
have four couples involved
with FMCA at the
regional level. In Oct of 2014
we will celebrate
our 35th year of FUN, FELL
OWSHIP, and LOVING the RV LIFESTYLE. As
motor-coachers we
love to travel, see the countr
y, enjoy nature and
visit with all of the wonderf
ul people we meet
along the way. We also enjoy
eating, shopping
during rallies, playing game
s and sharing of RV
maintenance/troubleshooting
ideas and topics.
Come on out to any of our ou
tings and enjoy the
camaraderie of fellow RV en
thusiasts.
Some of the area activities include casinos, shopping, museums and nature. As of this writing, there will be show
coaches, so who knows some may come home with a new
“home”.
Included in this newsletter is a copy of the registration
form, or to register on line, go to FMCA.com and access
the form under the Chapters/Areas tab, Areas Rallies,
