be leading the all day reading of the entire book

On Friday, the mad man of the Hammond B3 organ, Tony Monaco, returns to tear it up. He'll
be joined by one of the most electrifying guitarists Fareed Haque. It'll be a party!!
Saturday night, Pittsburgh resident vocalist Jessica Lee, makes her Nighttown debut.
And then on Sunday, "DON'T MISS" the legendary father and son, Eddie Baccus Sr and
Eddie Baccus Jr. Eddie Sr is the dean of the B3 in Cleveland for decades. Eddie Jr is most well
known for his 15 years with the famous group Pieces of a Dream. This is an extremely rare
night when father and son perform together. Catch Cleveland
music history at it's finest.

Students up to age 26 are 1/2 off the regular price.
Student priced tickets are only available the night of the
show, are available only at the door, and are subject to
availability. Students must have a photo ID from a
generally-recognized high school, college or university.
Full-paying ticket holders get priority on admission and
seating. Certain select shows have no discount based on
arrangements with the artist. On evenings when there
are two shows (i.e. shows at 7 & 9PM), the discount is
only good for the second show. Students under the age of
18 must be accompanied by an adult paying full price in
order to be eligible for the discount.

Through his innovative work as a solo artist and his contributions as a sideman to
Joe Satriani and Steve Vai, Stuart Hamm has firmly established himself as one of
the most influential electric bassists of the past half-century. Extending the nontraditional function of the electric bass previously revolutionized by Jaco Pastorius
and Stanley Clarke in the 1970s, Hamm helped to reshape the contemporary
concept of the bass guitar as an unaccompanied instrument with the utilization of
polyphonic, two-handed tapping, slapping and popping techniques, chords, and
harmonics.
Hamm has released six critically acclaimed studio recordings and has enjoyed
recording and touring stints with guitar icons Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Greg Howe,
Carl Verheyen and Frank Gambale. Hamm has received an extensive list of

Celebrated Hammond B-3 Jazz Organ wizard Tony Monaco began his keyboard life
at age eight, on the accordion. When he was twelve, his destiny as a jazz organist
was sealed when he first heard Jimmy Smith. An enthusiastic student, Tony began
working in Jazz clubs as a teenager in his native Columbus, Ohio, guided by local

organ gurus Hank Marr and Don Patterson. For further inspiration, he studiously
absorbed the mastery of Jimmy McGriff, Richard "Groove" Holmes, Charles
Earland, Jack McDuff, and Dr. Lonnie Smith. All would play a role in the
development of his musical palette.
In April 2000, Tony met fellow jazz organist Joey DeFrancesco, who offered to
produce a debut CD for him. This collaboration resulted in the critically acclaimed
"Burnin Grooves”. The international success of the recording served as the catalyst
for regional and national tours.This success was followed by five more releases for
Summit Records that received critical acclaim and significant sales, charting in the
Jazzweek Top 10.
As Tony’s reputation has grown, he has been blessed to play with some of greatest
musicians in jazz, including several years touring with Pat Martino, as well as Mel
Lewis, Lewis Nash, Red Holloway, Plas Johnson, Sonny Fortune, Jon Faddis, Adam
Nussbaum, Bruce Forman, Harvey Mason, and more..
Presently, Tony maintains the busiest world touring schedule imaginable, including
festival appearances in Australia, Indonesia, Japan, Germany, Italy, Scotland,
Holland and Spain, as well as Canada and the US.
Fareed Haque
Moving easily between jazz and classical guitar, Guitar virtuoso Fareed Haque has
worked with prominent artists including Paquito D’rivera, Dave Holland, Sting, Joe
Henderson, Joe Zawinul, Cassandra Wilson, Kurt Elling, Lester Bowie, Arturo
Sandoval, Medeski, Martin and Wood, Kahil el Zabar, Defunckt, Ramsey Lewis,
Nigel Kennedy, Edgar Meyer, Robert Conant, Stephen Stubbs, Frank Bungarten,
members of the Vermeer Quartet and many symphony orchestras in the U.S. and
abroad. He has performed all of the major guitar concertos, is an active
transcriber of baroque as well as South American music and has had numerous
modern works dedicated to him.
Fareed has released nine recordings as a leader:
Born in 1963 to Pakistani father and Chilean mother, extensive travels, especially
long stays in Spain, France, Iran, Pakistan, and Chile, exposed Haque to different
musics from a very early age. this natural eclecticism has become the hallmark of
Fareed’s music.
In 2001 Fareed co-founded the jam super-group Garaj Mahal, joined George
Brooks’ group Summit, featuring Zakir Hussein and Steve Smith and continues to
record and tour with the Fareed Haque Group.

Jazz Vocalist from Pittsburgh, Pa. makes her Cleveland debut at Nighttown!

Jessica Lee is an American jazz & blues vocalist, songwriter (ASCAP) and recording
artist, born in Manassas, VA. Lee’s vocals reflect the influence of classic jazz, blues,
rhythm & blues and gospel, but always with a heavy emphasis on the blues. Her
musical motto is to study and perform “something old, something new, something
borrowed . . . but always blue.”
Lee performs at jazz and blues clubs, music festivals, charitable and private
events, universities and concert halls throughout the U.S. She has performed at
legendary clubs such as Antone’s in Austin, Texas and is featured frequently at
major charitable events. For example, Jessica was the featured jazz & blues singer
to perform a live, nationally-broadcasted concert benefiting the Make-a-WishFoundation from the WQED TV Studios in Pittsburgh and has also been a featured
singer for the Susan B. Komen Race for the Cure and other major charity events. In
2011-12, record label EQ Music selected three of Jessica’s recorded songs from her
“Bluebird Fly” album for inclusion in three compilation albums, including two in
their “Greatest Audiophile Voices” album series and one in “The Best Pop Jazz”
album for international distribution. Since then, EQ Music has selected four more of
Lee’s recorded songs to feature on four new international vocal compilation CDs,
including “When Blues Meets Jazz,” and represents her solo albums internationally.
Also a social entrepreneur and educator, Lee has focused much of her
entrepreneurial energy on several high-profile initiatives in collaboration with the
nonprofit Pittsburgh Gateways Corporation, including co-founding the America’s
Arts & Music Crossroads Center which connects professional artists and musicians
with underprivileged youth for creativity and career coaching; co-founding a jazz
and American music camp series for at-risk youth with the Afro American Music
Institute’s James Johnson, Ph.D. and trumpeter/educator Sean Jones; the saving
and renovation of the legendary Crawford Grill jazz club in Pittsburgh’s historic Hill
District with Hall of Fame running back Franco Harris and a team of social
investors; and various other educational, career and entrepreneurial ventures
which are designed to “pass on” the American Music and creative art forms to the
next generation, with a special emphasis on serving youth in at-risk situations and
communities.

One of the senior statesman of the Cleveland Jazz Scene, organist Eddie Baccus
Sr. has set the standard locally since the early 1960's. Like the late great Jimmy
Smith, Baccus is a virtuoso on the Hammond B-3, equally adept at soul jazz and
bebop. In many ways Eddie Baccus Sr. has been to the jazz scene what the late
Robert Jr. Lockwood was to the local blues scene; he has been a leader, mentor,
and the soul of the community for many years.
Early on his talent was evident as he was linked with another jazz legend,
saxophonist Roland Kirk. Baccus and Kirk were schoolmates at the Ohio School of
the Blind and their sessions together in the old Euclid and 105th area are the stuff
of local legends. Kirk would go on to national acclaim before his untimely death in
the late 70's. Baccus stayed close to home and it has been our good fortune.
Eddie Baccus Sr. has been the bedrock of the Cleveland jazz scene and his
influence on fans and musicians alike has been invaluable.
After 15 years of recording and touring with famed urban jazz ensemble Pieces of
a Dream, saxophonist Eddie Baccus, Jr. stepped out on a lush, soulful and funky
Journey To Love, his independent debut demo to promote him for upcoming
shows. Though it has been extraordinarily well received, Baccus is excited about a
remixed and remastered version of the collection, which also features three new
songs. The Cleveland born and raised, Virginia based artist will be releasing the
revamped version as part of a package with his soon to be released follow-up
album whose title perfectly reflects Baccus’ life and career as he reflects on the
last 20 years and looks forward to the future: Living The Dream.
Baccus is currently putting the finishing touches on the new album, which will

feature jazz greats like keyboardist Russell Ferrante of the Yellowjackets, fellow

Like his hero Grover, Baccus switches artfully between soprano, alto and tenor,
and on Living the Dream is also playing baritone sax and EWI. Since leaving Pieces
of a Dream, he has been recording and performing live with his band Straight to
the Point, a powerful group of musicians who live in the Beltway region (Maryland
and Northern Virginia) .
Joining Eddie Sr. and Eddie Jr. for their appearance at Nighttown will be an All-Star
Cleveland lineup. They are Cecil Rucker on the Vibes. Eddie Sr. has frequently
appeared with Cecil's group Good Vibes. Billy Artis is on guitar. Many will
remember Billy from his days backing the late great Bill Doggett at the Theatrical
in downtown Cleveland. Perry Williams III is on drums. Perry is a veteran on the
soul jazz circuit and has worked with Eddie Sr. and Cecil extensively. And on vocals
is Ron Davis.

2016: A Political Race ODDyssey is a production of Cleveland Cabaret Project
(CCP), whose goal is to promote awareness an advancement of cabaret
performance as an art form in and around the Greater Cleveland area.
Lora Workman is founder and artistic director of CCP, which she created with Charles Eversole,
Artistic Director of Cleveland’s Own Singing Angels. Lora is a graduate of Baldwin Wallace
University’s Conservatory of Music. She studied cabaret in Italy, New York and was a semi-finalist
in the 2003 San Francisco Cabaret competition. She was also selected to participate in the 2007
Cabaret Conference Yale, which she worked with Tony Nominee® Tovah Feldshuh, Jason Graae,
Julie Wilson and Alex Rybeck.

The emergence of saxophonist Mike Phillips marks the beginning of a new, exciting
chapter in the jazz music scene. A rare combination of youthful exuberance and
seasoned craftsmanship, Mike is poised to take his position among the leaders in
his field.
Mike began his musical odyssey at the age of five in his native Mt. Vernon, NY.
After experimenting with an assortment of instruments including acoustic and
electric bass, violin, piano, French horn and trumpet, he focused on the saxophone
because it was the vehicle best suited to express his creative passion.
In the summer of 1993, Mike made his presence felt on the music scene with his
now legendary debut performance at the well-known New York City jazz & R&B
spot, Wilson's. Invited there by a friend who was playing keyboards with the house
band, Mike literally walked on stage and, much to the surprise of the band leader,
began to blow before anyone asked him to sit in. The looks of bewilderment
quickly turned to smiles and the rest, as they say, is history.
Mike has been a regular there ever since, performing with such artists as
Babyface, Rachelle Farrell, Brian McKnight, Boyz II Men, and the artist formerly
known as Prince. He has also showcased his extraordinary talent via performances
throughout the US and abroad, touring with such notables as Teddy Riley &
Blackstreet, Jonathan Butler, Simply Red, Wayman Tisdale, Kenny Lattimore and
the incomparable Stevie Wonder.
In 1996, Mike was invited to perform at President Clinton's Inaugural Gala held at
The Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. Other milestone events include the 80th
Birthday Celebration for President Nelson Mandela in South Africa, a Superbowl
appearance with Stevie Wonder, and the Billboard Music Awards. Mike's television
credits include Saturday Night Live, The David Letterman Show, BET On Jazz, BET
Sound Stage, and The Tonight Show.

Dynamic French Vocalist, and Mack Avenue Recording Artist,
with Her Six Piece Group back at Nighttown for two big shows!
Vocalist Cyrille Aimée was primarily raised in France by a French father and
Dominican mother. As a curious child in Samois-sur-Seine, she would sneak out of
her bedroom window to wander into the nearby gypsy encampments filled with
those attending the annual Django Reinhardt Festival.
She quickly fell in love with gypsy music and way of life; years later she would sing
on street corners with friends while traveling across Europe. While in the midst of
one such odyssey, she found herself at the Montreux Jazz Festival, where she won
first prize in the vocal competition - which included the financing of her first selfproduced album.
When Aimée audtioned for the Star Academy (a kind of French American Idol),
she became a finalist. Informed she would have to sing only what she was told, her
gypsy spirit rebelled—and in what was a cause célèbre she walked from the
competition.
She now happily tours the world with her band as well as in a duo setting with
Brazilian guitarist Diego Figueiredo. Aimée's talents also recently caught the
attention of Stephen Sondheim, who cast her in an Encores Special Presentation at
New York City's City Center in November 2013.
The New York Times referred to Aimée's major label debut in August 2014, as "a
bravura turn, presented with a smile."

NWGG has developed a wide spread reputation as one of the premier guitar
ensembles in the world. Featuring guitarists Perry Smith (NYC) John Storie (LA) and
Will Brahm (LA), they perform recognizable covers, jazz standards and exciting
originals. Their signature sound comes from an innovative style that highlights
rhythm, beauty and virtuosity through combining acoustic and electric guitars.
Smith and Storie founded the group 10 years and today they continue to tour as a
trio with Brahm throughout the United States and abroad.
In August of 2015, New West Guitar Group released their new project 'Send One
Your Love' on Summit Records. The recording features guest vocalists: Gretchen
Parlato, Sara Gazarek, Becca Stevens, Tierney Sutton and Peter Eldridge.

issue.

Cleveland Cabaret Project’s, 2016: A Political Race ODDyssey, a politically
incorrect and satiric revue is the perfect antidote.
2016: A Political Race ODDyssey will appear five Mondays on the intimate
Nighttown stage (May 9, May 23, June 13, June 27 and July 11).
As the Republican National Convention puts Cleveland in the spotlight, this timely,
fun revue will always be a little different each time (just like Cleveland's weather).
You'll never know what to expect – and you'll want to see them all!
2016: A Political Race ODDyssey features: Audrey Audette, Sean Cahill, Rob Gibb,
Carla Petroski, Tina Stump and Lora Workman. Also in the cast are Sheila Heyman
and Marc Moritz, whose names you may recognize from the days of Giant Portions
Improv that was a huge success in Cleveland during the late 80s and early 90s.

2016: A Political Race ODDyssey is a production of Cleveland Cabaret Project
(CCP), whose goal is to promote awareness an advancement of cabaret
performance as an art form in and around the Greater Cleveland area.
Lora Workman is founder and artistic director of CCP, which she created with Charles Eversole,
Artistic Director of Cleveland’s Own Singing Angels. Lora is a graduate of Baldwin Wallace
University’s Conservatory of Music. She studied cabaret in Italy, New York and was a semi-finalist
in the 2003 San Francisco Cabaret competition. She was also selected to participate in the 2007
Cabaret Conference Yale, which she worked with Tony Nominee® Tovah Feldshuh, Jason Graae,
Julie Wilson and Alex Rybeck.

Twenty-nine year old rising trumpeter and composer Josh Rzepka has been
described as “a musician who doesn’t believe in limits” by the Tribune Chronicle,
and as being “gifted” by the Cleveland Plain Dealer. He has been heralded not only
for his jazz playing and composing, but for his classical trumpet playing as well. A
native of Akron, OH, he now resides in Chicago, IL.
With his third jazz album Trumpet Genesis (2013), he follows up his release Into the
Night , his debut classical CD Josh Rzepka: Baroque Music for Trumpet (2010), and
his critically acclaimed debut jazz CD Midwest Coast (2009).
Quickly establishing himself as one of the most versatile upcoming performers in
classical and jazz music, Josh has performed across the country at famed venues
including Severance Hall, Boston’s Symphony Hall, Cleveland’s NightTown, the
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and the Knitting Factory in NYC, and the Green Mill in
Chicago. As a soloist Josh has presented recitals and concerts ranging from the
baroque, to modern, to original jazz. Appearances include performing with the
Cleveland Jazz Orchestra led by internationally renowned trumpeter Sean Jones, as
well as with many other groups and ensembles in the NE Ohio region.
In 2011 Josh was recognized by the Akron Area Arts Alliance with their 2011 Arts
Alive! Rising Young Star award. This biennial award was a big honor for Josh and
he was thrilled to receive recognition from his home town of Akron.
When you ask Josh which kind of music he enjoys performing the most, – classical
or jazz – he’ll tell you, “As far as I am concerned, there are only two kinds of music:
good and bad. Personally, I like playing good music. As soon as you start to classify
music any other way, I think you miss out on its true spirit.”

Justo gained notoriety in 2008 as host of the very popular Latin Jazz/Latin soul
Radio program on 107.3 The Wave of out Cleveland, Ohio which he hosted for 2
years. Shortly thereafter he had the opportunity to perform with some well known
artists from the world of Jazz, such as Kirk Whalum, Gerald Albright, Roy Ayers and
Hiroshima. “Performing in front of a live audience is the most rewarding part of the

Born in Pittsburgh, keyboard/vocalist Bill Heid has performed throughout the U.S.,
Canada, South America, Europe, and the Far East, including a three year stay in
Canada, South America, Europe, and the Far East, including a three year stay in
Japan. From 1965 through the mid-70’s, he worked the Hammond B-3 organ
“chitlin clubs” with his own groups and with jazz greats such as Sonny Stitt, David
“Fathead” Newman, Grachan Monchur, Mickey Roker, Joe Dukes, Roger
Humphries, Rodney Whitaker, Robert Hurst, Grant Green, Jimmy Ponder, Bruce
Foreman, and Henry Johnson, appearing on two Johnson albums for MCA/Impulse.
From 1975 to 1984, based in Chicago, Bill toured with blues greats Jimmy
Witherspoon, John Lee Hooker, Son Seals, and Fenton Robinson, playing on two
albums with Robinson, two with KoKo Taylor, and another with Roy Buchanan for
Alligator Records. From 1963 through 1996, Heid pursued another “career” of
sorts. He hitchhiked in the 48 continental states, Canada, Mexico, Switzerland,
France, Italy, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, the Philippines, and to the Thailand/Cambodia
border, earning a place in the Guinness Book Of World Records. Accurately
documenting exactly 400,000 miles, he told of some of his adventures on the
Oprah Winfrey Show in 1985.

of experience on the jazz performance campaign trail, Vanessa Rubin is an everevolving classic singer in the making. The development of a true jazz singer is a
long-range prospect, laden with learning experiences that forge the voice into a
true instrument, rich with passion, deeply invested in living through life’s joys and
perils; such is the journey of Vanessa Rubin, jazz singer extraordinaire. Capable of
employing the gamut of emotions, the mature Ms. Rubin can range from whisper
to shout in the blink of an eye; from honey-laden ballads purring like a kitten, to up
tempo swinging and scatting like a fluent saxophone, she delivers the goods.
One of the surest tests of a jazz singer is her acceptance by skilled players; the
relationship between instrumentalist and vocalist is so often fraught with distrust.
Vanessa Rubin has never experienced such travails. From the time she joined the
New York jazz community in the early 80s, under the guidance of such
grandmasters as Barry Harris and Frank Foster, Rubin’s acceptance has been
universal. Instrumentalists have always been impressed by her way around a
song, her willingness to flow with their muse, and her innate ability to swing that
music.
The list of great musicians who have graced her recordings and bandstands is
quite impressive: Monty Alexander, Cecil Bridgewater, Kenny Burrell, Frank Foster,
Billy Higgins, Etta Jones, Lewis Nash, Houston Person, Patience Higgins, Don
Braden, Toots Thielemans, Steve Turre, Cedar Walton, Grover Washington, Jr., and
James Williams are just a few of the masters who’ve lent their skills to support Ms.
Rubin’s artistry. More recently she has completed auspicious global tours with
Herbie Hancock, the Woody Herman Orchestra, and the Jazz Crusaders.
