The only Icewalk where you walk directly on the ice! Wind through
narrow Grotto Canyon following the frozen creek bed, past unusual
rock formations, ancient Native rock art and icefalls.
Along the trail, our guides will explain the historic and recent
changes to the geology of the mountain, and point out the hidden
ancient native pictographs, that you could easily miss. Some
believe that one of the symbols could be a Kokopelli, a flute player
painted in ochre, used only by the Native American Hopi people,
some 500-1300 years ago.
A more secluded and less visited area, Grotto Canyon Icewalk takes
visitors from Canmore and Banff to a treasured nearby location.
