Humanitarian Collection for the Middle East
September 6-7
The United States Bishops have proposed a special
collection to provide humanitarian relief and pastoral
support for our affected brothers and sisters in the Middle
East. Our second collection (normally for the Parish Building
Fund) at all masses this weekend will be designated for
support for Christians and others who are suffering so much
in the Middle East wars.
Proceeds will be disbursed for humanitarian needs by
Catholic Relief Services (CRS) and other Catholic agencies
working in partnership with the local Churches in the
affected areas. Collection funds will also support Church
programs to aid persecuted Christians and for rebuilding
needs of Catholic dioceses in the impacted areas.
In proposing the collection Archbishop Kurtz, President of
the USCCB, wrote “Our Christian brothers and sisters and
other innocent victims of the violence in the Middle East
urgently need the assistance of the Catholic community of
the United States. Thank you for your support of this special
collection and for your continued prayers for the victims of
this crisis.”

Colecta humanitaria para el Medio Oriente
6-7 de septiembre
Los Obispos de Estados Unidos han propuesto una colecta especial para proporcionar ayuda humanitaria y apoyo pastoral
a nuestros hermanos que sufren en el Medio Oriente. Nuestra segunda colecta (que normalmente es para el fondo
parroquial de construcción) en todas las misas este fin de semana será designada para apoyar a los cristianos y a otras
personas que están sufriendo tanto en las guerras del Medio Oriente.
Los fondos que se recauden se distribuirán para necesidades humanitarias a cargo de Catholic Relief Services (CRS) y otras
agencias católicas que trabajan en alianza con las iglesias locales en las áreas afectadas. Los fondos de la colecta también
ayudarán a programas de la iglesia que apoyan a cristianos perseguidos y necesidades de reconstrucción en las diócesis
católicas de las áreas en cuestión.
Al proponer la colecta, el Arzobispo Kurtz, Presidente de USCCB, escribió: “Nuestros hermanos cristianos y otras víctimas
inocentes de la violencia en el Medio Oriente necesitan urgentemente la ayuda de la comunidad católica en los Estados
Unidos. Gracias por su apoyo en pro de esta colecta especial y por sus oraciones por las víctimas de esta crisis.”
