7th October, 2015
Welcome to Term 4 at York Public School!
We had wonderful news last term regarding one of our students, Tanayah in Year 6, who won the
Stage 3 Taronga Bird Festival Banner Competition organised by Taronga Zoo and QBE. Tayanah’s
artwork was selected from a pool of 751 entries. Tanayah won her class a day at the Zoo and a
special animal experience. In addition her artwork will be flying high around the zoo on special
banners. 6BR will be visiting the Zoo on Tuesday 20th October.
It is also exciting times for our Year 3 and 4 students who will be attending their first overnight camp
with the ZoosnooZ at Taronga Zoo next week. We look forward to hearing all about this wonderful
experience from our students and staff.
Our Kindergarten Orientation Day will be held next week on Thursday 15th October. If there are any
York Public School families or friends that have a child due to start Kindergarten in 2016, and have not
yet enrolled in school, we ask that they please do so as quickly as possible so that they can be
included in the Orientation and Transition program.
Our final term is looking very busy and I encourage our families
to continue to check the calendar and our Facebook page for
updates.

Congratulations to Jade, Corey, Tashana and Nicklas

PUBLIC SPEAKING - 2015
st
On Monday 31 August all class finalists from Years
3-6 took part in their year finals. The York school
audience was with a wonderful display of talent we
have throughout our primary school.
York Public School would like to send out an
enormous thank you to all of the school community
for getting behind us in this competition.
As a result of all your hard work (and fantastic
buying) we won the first place prize which means we
will receive $5 000 cash and a school visit from either
Matt Moylan (Penrith Panthers) or Jessica Fox
(Olympian Canoeist).
We will keep the community informed when either
Matt or Jessica will be visiting the school and how we
spend our prize money.
Again, thank you for supporting the school and your
local shopping centre.
We should in the next few weeks receive details on
the Woolworths Earn and Learn program, which
means a lot more goodies for the school.
The winners for each year were:
Year 3 Sienna Kennedy

Year 4 Summer-Jayne Robins

Year 5 Bella Turner
