Gewalt Hamilton Associates provided all site planning, engineering,
surveying, traffic analysis, construction layout, environmental services
and construction observation/coordination for both Warren Township
High School District 121 (WTHS) and the Special Education District of
Lake County (SEDOL).
This
multi-phase,
multi-year
project involved site planning that
allowed WTHS to sell 6.2 acres of
land to SEDOL, while allowing
WTHS to add new classrooms,
black
box
theatre,
and
administration building. It also
provided for 1,050 parking spaces,
new athletic fields and 8-lane
competition track and signalized
access to Gages Lake Road.
GHA provided the basis for the cost allocations regarding detention,
shared access and site earthwork. This joint partnership and cross use
of shared improvements
provided savings in
excess of $600,000 for
each agency.
All
projects
were
delivered on time and on
budget.
