The fruit farm at South Belton is owned and operated by the Rennie family and
they have successfully over the years developed a strong business which now
includes potato growing, cereals, a range of gluten free icecream, seasonal
fruits, a range of ciders and the fish farm.
Maden eco approached Mr Rennie with the original aim of installing a wind
generator but due to a lack of appetite from the local authority we pursued the
commercial solar route. Being an early adopter the FIT was generous but the
equipment was more expensive also. The system has proved reliable and the
client is happy with the yield. We have retrofitted a web box as the system is not
at the main farm and through the web box Mr Rennie receives an email daily
telling him the production of the day before and this will alert him to any event
failures.
The sol PV rail system is a continuous channel that houses the panels in
keeping them well secured right along their length. The installation is straight
forward as the panels click into the system and are secured with locator pins.
The inverters were sma German built and the panels 250 watt by QCell also
German ensuring the quality of the job.

Loch Levens Larder is a great set-up owned and operated by the Niven family,
it includes a delicatessen style farm shop with a boutique layout offering a wide
selection of gifts, country clothing and an award winning restaurant. If you are
looking for a venue to hold a special birthday or a corporate event the
backdrop of Loch Leven would not disappoint whatever time of year you chose.
Our project was to install 10kw on the storage facility and 30kw for the benefit
of the main shop and restaurant. Using two SMA inverters on the 30kw giving a
true 30kw processing capacity we used German Axitec PV panels to generate
the power.
The project went smoothly and the install team put the hours in to get the
installation complete two days ahead of schedule. The following day the
tourism awards for farming enterprises was held at the venue and the tourism
minister Fergus Ewing dropping by.
We know that the large energy demand of this type of facility uses power in a
very close match to the seasonal distribution of the sun.

In June 2014 Maden Eco added a further 30kW to their office roof in Berwick
Upon Tweed. The first 30kW was put on in summer 2012 and is generating
well.
The project is made up of 120 x Axitec 250W panels, K2 railing systems and
Samil inverters. Maden Eco supply both SMA Inverters, which is on the first
30kW install and Samil inverters, which is used on the second 30kW install. This
is a good experiment for Maden Eco to compare the products.

Maden Eco will go the extra mile to ensure that the quality and workmanship of
your project is at its best. We use far more clip and track to support the
armoured cables coming from the roof to the inverters than our competitors.
Around the inverter location as can be seen in the pictures we will build a
racking panel and securely mount the equipment placing all the cables into box
trunking and clearly labelling what all the isolators and components are.
Alongside every location is a schematic clearly showing the system so that any
other electricians visiting site can see what equipment is and what is DC and
what is AC.
Every installation is backed up with a pre-installation visit followed by a
supervised installation and a thorough handover with you and your site
operators.

In August 2014 Maden Eco installed 115.5kW of Solar PV at Stobo Castle
Health Spa.
The project is made up of 462 x Q-Cells 250W panels, K2 railing systems and
SMA PPP inverters.
The array is discreetly hidden by a parapet wall on the top of the health suite
and will generate over 100,000kWh of clean green energy to site. This follows
on from a new biomass plant which combined with the solar PV will reduce the
carbon footprint significantly.
