HOW IT ALL BEGAN
At the ripe age of 19, Barbara from Niagara Falls, NY & Mike
Sivells from Hopkinsville, KY began working together at the
Radisson Hotel; Mike a bellman and Barbara a waitress. Love
flourished and their lives began. Getting established and starting
a family were dreams the couple shared, along with Mike’s
personal endeavor of one day owning his own BBQ restaurant.
Sunday evening drives were the blueprint for their vision, each
word that was uttered and each mile that they drove, their dream
started to take shape. 17 years of small talk ideas, restaurant
names, types of food and the location provided a strong
foundation for the couple’s utopia restaurant. Life quickly
happened for the once young, dream driven couple, and after
juggling 2 children, full time jobs & the hustle and bustle of
everyday life, the idea of becoming restaurant owners and putting
Mikes dream in play became less of a reality. Until one day the
perfect location with the most ideal components became available
just a short mile from their residence. They both knew this 1896
log cabin would provide the ultimate atmosphere for their old
fashioned, real pit bbq vision. Mike walked into then Smith’s Florist
on a Monday afternoon and walked out a proud owner of a BBQ
restaurant. Shack in the
Back BBQ opened their
doors on September
15th, 2006 and the rest
was history…
