“ I have used Monty’s 4-5-2 Plus
and was very pleased with the
plant response I saw. Not only
did I see a significant green
up, but root development
was noticeable as well. It was
easy to mix and apply. Very
pleased with the product.”

“ I have been using Monty’s
product now for several
years... the Humic LC is a
great product to address
compacted areas where I
have a hard time getting
grass to grow.”

“ When we introduced
Microhance last fall, I knew
this would be a tremendous
product to use on my own
lawn. My neighborhood is
fairly new construction and
many times, the soils are low
in essential micronutrients to
grow the best grass you can.
This product, applied along
with Humic LC has proven to
make a big difference.”

Don’t be fooled by the Humic content numbers on product packaging.
Today’s labels show anything from 1% to 70%, but that is not the entire story.
There are different methods for measuring humic substances, some of
which include a measurement of ash along with the humics reading. The
method accepted by most states is the California 4A 4/JC method. This is
the method that Monty’s uses. We took some competing products and had
them analyzed the same way we have our product analyzed. You may find
the results surprising.

This is really just the beginning of the story. Just as testing methods yield
different results, how the brown coal is processed yields different results in
the field. Monty’s proprietary process offers the following benefits:
• Fully Activated – Monty’s fully activates all humic substances for
maximum Bio (microbial activity, nutrient delivery), Geo (mineral
activity, humus formation, improved soil structure) and Chemical
(unlocks tied-up nutrients, improves CEC capacity) activity.
• Optimized Formulation – Monty’s optimizes the ratio of humic
substances for maximum results across a wide range of soil types.
• Purity – Monty’s proprietary processing technology removes the
elements and compounds that reduce activity and performance, and
therefore increases our humic’s activity and performance in the soil.

Compare the difference with and without
Humic LC. Monty’s products are effective
at low concentrations because of their
activation, optimized formulation and
purity. But don’t take our word for it.
Compare the beakers to the right to see
how Monty’s process results in soluble
humics which dissolve and disperse upon
contact with moisture, ready to work
throughout your soil profile.

The vast majority of humic products are derived from brown coal.
As the chart below shows, 75% of brown coal’s makeup is organic
matter. Of this organic matter, roughly 80% are humic substances.
Finally, humic substances consist primarily of fulvics and humic acids.
At this stage, it is key to know that humic acids, in their natural form,
are insoluble…regardless what percent humic acid is on the label. It
is only the smaller percentage of fulvic acids in the humic substance
that is soluble in its natural state. This is what the comparison picture
on the previous page indicates: (a) How the activated Monty’s
humic product is soluble and (b) how the competitor’s inactivated
product is still insoluble.
Whether it’s 100%, 75%, 50%, 25%, 15%, or 12.6% humics – unless they
have been activated, they are still in their natural state and are
insoluble! This means they cannot disperse through the soil profile or
work as efficiently as Monty’s activated humics.

T H E BASI C S O F H UMICS
WHAT ARE HUMICS?
HOW CAN YOU APPLY TWO QUARTS TO AN ACRE AND GET RESULTS?
Humic substances can be broken down into humic acid and fulvic
acid. Humic acid is a principal component of humic substances.
Humic substances are the major organic constituents of soil
(humus), peat and coal. They are also found in upland streams,
lakes, and ocean water. Humic substances are produced by the
decomposition of organic matter.
Our proprietary humics are purified and activated, have the correct
humic-to-fulvic ratio, and are applied at the optimum humic
concentration. Therefore we have a lower rate of application and
can achieve greater results by stimulating the soil’s natural biology
in the most effective way.
HOW CAN HUMICS HELP ME TO INCREASE MY YIELD?
Humics stimulate microbial activity in soil, help break up
compacted soil, assist in transferring micronutrients from the soil to
the plant, enhance water retention, increase seed germination,
and improve the breakdown of plant residue.
HOW CAN MONTY’S LOWER % HUMIC BE BETTER THAN THE
COMPETITION’S HIGHER % HUMIC?
Whether its 50%, 25%, or 12.6%, humics in their natural state are
insoluble. This means they cannot disperse effectively through
the soil profile. Monty’s proprietary processing technology
makes our product the most active and soluble available. Our
humics are more pure and have the ideal humic-to-fulvic ratio
to provide for maximum yield and success. We understand the
right concentration of humic substances to maximize biological
stimulation. This is why our lower concentrations are more effective.
This is our advantage. Contact your Monty’s representative for
more information.
WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF USING MONTY’S PRODUCTS
THROUGHOUT THE YEAR?
Monty’s humic products are continuously working when used
throughout the year. Monty’s recommended programs can
improve your soils and maximize your yields year after year,
providing the most cost-effective solution available.
HOW DO YOU SHOW/KNOW IT’S ACTIVE?
Activity is measured in the soil and plants. Soil testing will show the
results: reduced soil compaction, improved overall soil health,
enhanced micronutrient uptake, and enhanced breakdown of
plant residue. Results may include increased root mass, healthier
plants and ultimately a higher yield.
WHY ARE YOU TELLING ME TO ADD CARBON, WHEN I HAVE PLENTY
OF CARBON IN MY SOIL?
Carbon has many forms, but stable, organic carbon is our priority.
Humic LC is the product name for our active humic products.
Humic LC contains highly purified and activated humic substances
with carbon in their molecular structure. This type of carbon is
stable and organic.
DOES MONTY’S ACTIVATED HUMIC TECHNOLOGY WORK IN ALL
SOIL TYPES?
Yes. Whether you have clay soils and compaction or sandy soils,
Humic LC can provide benefits to the soil.
HOW DOES MONTY’S HUMIC INCREASE MICROBIAL ACTIVITY?
Humic products increase microbial activity by providing optimum
conditions for microbial life and protecting microbes from adverse
external conditions.
HOW DO MONTY’S HUMICS INCREASE CATION EXCHANGE
CAPACITY (CEC) IN THE SOIL?
Humic substances by themselves have a very high CEC. When
added to soil, humic substances stimulate soil organic matter
production, which is rich in humus. Humus has a high CEC, which
raises CEC levels on the soil test.
HOW DOES YOUR COST/ACRE COMPARE TO OTHER HUMIC
PRODUCTS?
Our cost per acre is generally lower because our humics are
purified and activated, have the correct humic-to-fulvic ratio,
and are applied at the optimum humic concentration. Although
our cost/gallon may be greater, our cost/acre is generally less
because of our lower application rates.
T H E T R UTH AB O UT H UMICS

A little dose of truth is all your crops want. The truth...
• Monty’s humic technology is proprietary. There is nothing else like it, or proven as effective on the market.
• Monty’s highly concentrated formulas allow for lower application rates – providing better value to the producer.
• Monty’s humics have been used successfully on soils ranging from heavy clay to light sand.
• Monty’s products have a proven track record of improving growers’ plants, soils, and increasing their yields
since 1985.
• Monty’s humics are uniquely designed to meet your farming challenges, focusing on soil health and sustainability.
And that’s the truth. Don’t be fooled by others who tell you differently. A little dose of truth is all your crops want.
