Strategic Plan - Community Mailer
Strategic Plan—2015 through 2018:
Targeting Excellence
Superintendent’s Message — February 2015
Thank you to the more than 100 individuals who participated in one or more of our district strategic planning
sessions during the opening months of the 2014-15 school year. After four community-wide evenings
of conversation, further work by a subset of individuals who acted as a steering committee, and then final edits
by the members of our Board of Education, a new strategic plan for the district was formally approved by the
board at their December 17, 2014, meeting.
This new strategic plan is entitled Targeting Excellence. The plan goes into effect immediately and will be used
to guide our decisions and actions over the course of the next three school years. The details of the plan are
included inside this document.
We look forward to this plan propelling our district to greater heights and advancing our position as a Leader in
Personalizing Education. See the back page of this document for a new way to be involved in the ongoing
development and the oversight of the work associated with realizing the details of this strategic plan. Consider
becoming a member of one of the Implementation teams.
Sincerely,
Joseph Jones, III
The Board of Education extends thanks to the many who helped to create this new strategic plan.

What's Next?
Implementation Teams. We will be seeking individuals to join Implementation Teams. This is a new component of our strategic
planning process. There will be an Implementation Team for each of the five “strands” of the new plan:
Strand I:
Strand II:
Strand III:
Strand IV:
Strand V:
Student Success
English as a Second Language & Community
Careers
Technology
Public Relations & Finance
It is expected that these groups may meet as frequently as monthly, and the suggested start time for the meetings will be
3:30 p.m. Individual teams may alter the frequency and time of the meetings if there is agreement among all team members.
Please let the secretary to the superintendent, Stacy Hoffman ([email protected]), know if you are interested
in joining one of the teams. Identify the team that you are interested in joining – or indicate that you do not have a preference.
We expect the Implementation Teams to begin their work in late February. More information will be provided, when available,
to those who express an interest. Please let us know by Friday, February 20, if you would like to participate.
