The Career Management Center and the McCoy School
of Engineering will sponsor an Engineering Networking

Alumni Award Ceremony
The MSU Alumni Association invites the MSU campus
to attend the annual Alumni Awards Ceremony at 10
a.m. Saturday, October 19, in the Clark Student Center Comanche Suites. This event is a time to honor the

Business Etiquette Dinner
The Dillard College of Business Administration and the
Career Management Center will sponsor a Business
Etiquette Dinner from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, October 24, in
the Clark Student Center Comanche Suites. Students
will have an opportunity to learn the basics of dining
etiquette while networking with local employers. Students

Imagine Graduation
Imagine Graduation will be from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday
and Wednesday, October 22-23, in CSC Comanche
Suites (Atrium Entrance). August/December graduation
candidates will have the opportunity to finalize everything
related to graduation at one time and in one location.
Representatives from the following offices will be present to help students with last-minute plans: Registrar’s
Office, Bookstore, The Graduate School, Business Office, Financial Aid, Career Management Center, Alumni
Relations, Annual Fund, Institutional Effectiveness, and
Moffett Library.
Fall 2013 Geosciences &
Environmental Science Colloquium Series
The Fall 2013 Geosciences and Environmental Science
Colloquium Series will present Dr. John Grant at 6:30
p.m. Thursday, October 24, in Bolin Science Hall Room
100. Grant is the Mars Science Laboratory Participating
Scientist at the Center for Earth and Planetary Studies at
the National Air and Space Museum. He will speak about
results from the Mars Science Laboratory Curiosity.

Academic Workshop:
Choosing a Career and Major
The MSU Counseling Center will present a one-hour
academic workshop about choosing a career and major at
3 p.m. Tuesday, October 22, in the Sundance Court Third
Floor Meeting Room. Professors are welcome to include
this information in their syllabi and offer extra credit to
students if desired. Students will be provided attendance
verification forms. For more information, call ext. 4618.
America’s Music: Rock n’ Roll
Moffett Library will host a screening of Rock, part of the

America’s Music: A Film History of Our Popular Music
from Blues to Bluegrass to Broadway series. Assistant
Professor of Music Alan Black will moderate the discussion after the film and his Black and White Band will
perform after the discussion. The film will begin at 7 p.m.
Thursday, October 24, at the Wichita Falls Museum of
Art at MSU. Admission is free. For more information, call

Frank Wyatt, Professor and Graduate Coordinator of
Athletic Training and Exercise Physiology, just returned
from Glasgow, Scotland, where he gave a seminar to
Ph.D. students at The University of the West of Scotland
(UWS). The seminar was about “Meta-Analysis in Sport
and Exercise.” In addition, Wyatt worked on collaborating with researchers at UWS on heart rate variability in
adolescents during exercise.
Music Series at Akin: Piano Trio
Star Award Recipients for September are Gary Miller,
Electrician II; and Robert Entrekin, Custodian. From
those nominating Miller and Entrkin: “Gary has a good
attitude, never complains and takes great pride in his
work. He can be depended upon to complete a project
properly and works to solve any problems that come up.
Gary is a very reliable employee.”
The Music Series at Akin presents the trio of Alessio
Bax, piano; Stefan Jackiw, violin; and Paul Watkins,
cello; at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, October 24, at Akin Auditorium. All three artists have performed to critical acclaim
as soloists with major symphonies around the world. The
trio is scheduled to perform Mendelssohn’s Piano Trio
No. 2 in C Minor, Op. 66; and Rachmaninoff’s Piano Trio
No. 2 in D Minor, Op. 9. General admission tickets are
$25. Tickets for senior citizen and military are $22.50 for
each. Tickets MSU faculty and staff are $15 each or $24
for season tickets. MSU student tickets are $10 each or
$15 for season. Tickets may be purchased by contacting
the MSU Music Department at ext. 4267 between 1-5
p.m. when school is in session. The series is sponsored
by the Perkins-Prothro Foundation and Joe and Dale
Prothro.

with.” Miller and Entrekin are recognized with a certificate posted in their work space as well as a unique
copper mustangs cut out that can be displayed on desks
and/or in the Daniel Building.

Matthew Capps, Dean of the West College of Education, have a research article titled “Impact of Online
Social Network on American College Students’ Reading
Practice” published in The College Quarterly, which is a
journal of research and discussion for college educators
across Canada. The article is appeared in the Winter Issue, 2013, 16 (1), pp.24-38.
