Girls Get Active Camp
Adventure Sports Camp
Spend your summer having fun and building
new friendships while learning about nature and
the environment. Each week has a new theme
with new discoveries and adventures! This camp
also includes a large gymnasium component.
(This camp does not go swimming.)
Girls thrive in a positive environment where they
can be themselves and show their true colours
while connecting with camp leaders and other
girls. We include a balance of active outings in the
community with arts, crafts, swimming, games
and team building activities.
We promise you’ll try at least one new sport or
game during this camp. Off-site trips are included
to make sure we get out and explore all the great
sport amenities to be enjoyed in Nanaimo.

Tennis Camp - Serve, Swing, Swim
Join us for an adventure-filled introduction to
science! Even ice skating and an afternoon at the
pool involves science. Discover the forest, bugs
and more in one of Nanaimo’s most beautiful
parks. This camp is jam packed full of fun
activities like swimming and days at the beach.
Bring your racquet for this introduction to
tennis. Strokes and strategies are covered, and
some days end with a swim. Other activities
round out an active day. This camp will run rain

Day Camp Information for Parents
• Parent/caregiver must come into the building to sign child in and out each day. Failure to do so may result in withdrawal of child.
• No early birds in the morning, please, and prompt pick-up is very important! You will be charged $1 for each minute you are late.
• Camp Wild, Camp Holidaze, Girls Get Active, Bowen Explorers, Adventure Sports Camp and Jt. LIT Camps all go off-site and use public
transit. All other camps stay on site.

Looking for a flexible and convenient way to plan your child’s summer? With the help of our registration staff, you can now pick the days
that work for your schedule. Pick one day one week and three days the next. Cost is $38/day. Please call us for assistance.

Hey, parents! Are you rushed to get to work or pick up your kids up from camp? Not to worry, we have options for you. Camp Wild and
Adventure Sports Camps at Oliver Woods Community Centre and Camp Holidaze at Beban Park offer before care (7:30-8:30 am) and after
care (5-5:30 pm). Cost is $4 per day for morning care and $2 for afternoon care. Cool Kids Skate Camp at NIC has pre-camp care (8-9 am)
available for $5 per day. Please call us for assistance.

Week one of this interactive camp will include
team building activities and leadership sessions
among a variety of summer camp activities.
During the second week, you’ll participate
in 15 to 30 hours of supervised hands-on
volunteering experience as you assist at various
recreation programs. Fee includes a t-shirt.

Join us for a morning of engaging activities that
will help you learn the Mandarin language. Story
time, puppet shows, crafts, songs and games

Camp Sunsation – 6 to18 Years
This camp is designed and equipped for persons
requiring more care. Camp Sunsation divides
the eight weeks of summer into two age
categories (6 to 12 and 13 to 18) so that children
can socialize with their peers. Activities and
outings are based on the interests and needs of
the children and teens.
For both camp experiences, weeks offered
are contingent on funding received from the
Ministry of Children & Family Development
(MCFD). Participants need to be eligible for
support through the MCFD - Children & Youth
with Special Needs (CYSN) program area. For
more information, contact the Nanaimo MCFD
office at 250-741-3600.

Campers will gain confidence in their canoe and kayak skills by being engaged in FUN and DYNAMIC activities both
on and off the water. All activities are designed to build strong sportsmanship throughout the camp. Group activities
include working together, paddling in a variety of boats, swimming, beach time and games on and off the water.
Highly qualified coaches will deliver these programs to ensure campers’ safety and advancements in their abilities.
