We have been having a great
time getting together at the
Foresthill Fabric Friends
Community Sewing Room.
Some of our fun classes
recently have included: the
Easy Peasy Flannel Blanket
Class, the Jelly Roll Class and
the Catalina Sling Purse Class.
Our Foresthill Fabric Friends Community Sewing
Room is located at the former Elementary School
Site, 24750 Main St., Foresthill, CA 95631.
Our classes are kept at a low
cost, sometimes materials will
be provided, otherwise a list
will be provided for materials
you will bring to the class. We
have limited class space so
please let us know if you plan
to attend. You will also want
to bring your sewing
machine, thread, cutting mat,
rotary cutter, ruler and
other normal sewing supplies.
Drop In Days: The room is
being outfitted for people who
want to sew but might not own
a machine or need a flannel
wall for designing but don't
have the space. You might
need a large table to lay
something out or you just
might want to hang out with
co-sewers and sew sociably.
When you come to the Drop In
Days we request a small
donation that will be used
towards our rent.
We also have tubs of donated
material that one can look
through to take home for a
donation and the same for
books and patterns.
We are really excited to
continue the great comradery
of Foresthill Fabric Frenzy
friendships with the Foresthill
Fabric Friends Community
Sewing Room.

My name is Stephanie Palmer and I'm a professional longarm quilter, pattern designer, blogger

Little Dipper
My name is Emilie Drumm, I'm a founder of the new fabric business called Little Dipper (we are
launching right here in our beautiful state of California)! I’m reaching out to you specifically because
you are an important member of Sierra Gold Quilters Guild. And I know you love fabric just as much
as I do!
Little Dipper is a different type of fabric business. We want fabric lovers like yourself, to decide what
designs should be made into fabric (and not leave it to executives at large corporations, like has
been done traditionally).
The way we work work is artists submit designs to Little Dipper, and we post the designs for pre order. If enough people commit to buy the fabric, we'll do a commercial quality run, cut and
distribute it. We never take any money from our customers unless enough people decide they wa nt
to buy the design first!

patterns and colors, textures and weaves. People say a quilt is like a textile sandwich, but I think it’s more

Running at fifteen minutes each, Riley’s Quilting Stories series makes a perfect opening conversation

Each DVD features an array of museum quality quilts paired with stories of the quilters behind them – told

Riley’s Her Own Words series has received critical acclaim, in addition to a variety of national awards.
Her 15-minute DVDs are a great length for a guild meeting, leaving time for quilters to share their work as
well as discuss the series’ stories.

Quilting Foldy Stuff

Here is a challenge: If you want to see the popularity of this method, just google “Quilting Foldy Stuff.”
Using the Foldy Stuff method you first transfer a grid from an iron-on transfer to a backing fabric, cut
strips of fabric, sew the strips to the backing and fold the strips over to the next grid line. There is no
need to sew straight since the sewing is covered by the folded over strip. That’s why, “no seams.“
It makes a wonderful traveling project, because you can hand sew the strips.
Here, also, you will find over 100 appliqué and pieced quilt patterns. Our appliqué designs are unique
and interesting. Also, be sure to visit our Show & Tell section and see many projects from your fellow
quilters.
Donna’s Quilting Hints is almost a book in itself and has a ton of information on quilting and sewing
techniques.
Donna has also been busy making videos. You will find them on Youtube (search Donna Poster) or there
are links on our index page.
